Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Carnival Noir! Each year, our dedicated team of performers, characters, and volunteers bring this immersive masquerade to life for hundreds of masked revelers from both Canada and the US.
Roles
Our volunteer team is comprised of many different roles that allow us to transform our host venue into a wonderous display of each year's theme. Here are some of the roles we are seeking volunteers to fill:
- Set Builders
- Costumer Makers
- Stage Hands
- Game Makers
Requirements
While Carnival Noir is a 19+ event, pre-event volunteer Set Builders, Costume Makers, and Game Makers can be 16 years or older to volunteer. (We are happy to fill out school volunteer hour sheets if applicable.) Any in-event volunteers must be 18+ to work the event, and must be working the entire time if they are under 19 years of age.
Compensation
While volunteer positions are just that, people volunteering their time to help create an amazing event, we do offer comped tickets for volunteer time.
Volunteers who dedicate a full day (or a total of 8 hours over a few days) before the event as a builder, costumer, or maker, will receive 1 free entry to the event that year for themselves (if 19+) or another (again, 19+) if they cannot make it.
In-event volunteers will receive a comped ticket for another person (you guessed it, 19+ only) provided they work the entire event.
We are also accepting applications for the management roles of Set Design Manager, and Costume Manager. These roles are part of the Leadership Team of Carnival Noir and are being interviewed for separately. Qualified and interested candidates may submit their resumes & CVs to our Event Manger Lexy Baksi at lexy@velvetedge.ca
Applications are accepted year-round, and are contacted from May to the event date. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please fill out this form.
