So you’ve tackled your wedding invitation wording, figured out your RSVP by date and reply card wording, and decided whether you need a reception card or not. But where do you put your wedding website? And what about hotel accommodations, directions, and the welcome dinner details? Getting overwhelmed? Don’t worry! I’m going to share some insert card wording samples for all those other detail cards you might need in your invitation suite.
Depending on your wedding, you may need all of these cards, just a few, or none at all! You can also combine everything into a multipurpose “information” or “details” insert to simplify your suite or save on costs.
If you’ve put together a website for your wedding, an insert card is a perfect place to share it! These cards are usually small (business card size works well), or the address could simply be printed on a small tag tied to your invitation suite.
Alternatively, add your website to the bottom of your accommodations, directions, or information insert.
Tip: if your website address is long or hard to remember, consider using a URL shortener like bitly to create a short, easy to read address for your website card.
WEEKEND ITINERARY: Popular with destination weddings, an itinerary card contains details of other events happening the weekend of your wedding, such as a rehearsal dinner, welcome party, or day after brunch.
INFORMATION INSERT OR DETAILS CARD: If you have a few small details you want to share, the information insert can be the perfect option. You can also combine your website card, reception card, and/or accommodations card into a single insert to reduce the number of pieces in your invitation suite.
ACCOMMODATIONS INSERT: If you have reserved a block of hotel rooms or want to share your favorite local B&B’s with your guests, this is the perfect place for it! At a minimum, you’ll want to note the names of any hotels you are recommending. You can also include group rate codes, pricing details, and a “reserve by” date.
REGISTRY INFORMATION: You may be wondering where to put your registry information, and the simple answer is that you should not include it in your invitation suite. The same goes for listing “no gifts”, or “in lieu of gifts, please donate…”
Why? By mentioning gifts at all, you’ll make it seem like gifts are expected and take away from the fact that you’re inviting someone to share a special occasion with you.
Instead, add your registry details or gift preferences to your wedding website or rely on word of mouth to share where you’re registered.
OTHER CARDS: In addition to any of the cards mentioned above, there are a few other types of enclosures that aren’t common but might be necessary for certain situations. Of course, you can add these details to other inserts in your suite if you like.
