Offers multidisciplinary and interagency interventions (Barnahus Quality Standard 5), organised under one roof in a child-friendly setting (Barnahus Quality Standard 4), placing the best interests of the child (UNCRC art 3, Barnahus Quality Standard 1.1) at the centre.Offers each child a balanced multidisciplinary, professional and child friendly intervention, managed through joint case management and review.Professionals from the following disciplines collaborate to provide a carefully balanced intervention that responds to the needs of each child:Child Protection: The Barnahus contributes to the assessment of protection needs and supports follow up concerning the child victim and siblings in the family.Criminal justice investigation and proceedings: The criminal investigation in Barnahus, including the forensic interview, respects the procedural safeguards of both the child and the defendant. A child-friendly forensic interview is carried out according to an evidence-based protocol by a specialised forensic interviewer to secure the best possible evidence and to protect the child from (re)traumatisation. The interview is recorded and represents admissible evidence in Court.Medical examination and treatment: A child friendly medical evaluation is carried out by specialised and highly competent staff both for forensic investigative purposes and to ensure the child’s physical well-being and recovery by the appropriate remedy.Mental health examination and treatment: All children are offered a mental health assessment and appropriate support by specialised and highly competent staff, including crisis support, short and long-term therapeutic services addressing the trauma of the child and non-offending family members and caretakers.Commitment to take all possible action to (progressively) comply with the Barnahus Criteria (see above)Commitment to take all possible action to (progressively) practice according to the Barnahus Quality Standards, within the boundaries of the national context.Facilities and interventions are specialised just for childrenService provision fully compliant with national and European law (if applicable) and requirements for example on different sectors of the multidisciplinary service provision, protection of data and privacy, rights of victims and defendants;Non-for profit – service provision is freeService provision only carried out by competent, qualified and specialised staffClear and transparent governance and financePolicy and procedures for safeguarding children from harm are in place.

1. A letter, in English, summarising the main points of the documents you are submitting, and motivating why you want to join the Network.

2. A roadmap of your service, or similar. This may be in any language.

3. An interagency agreement OR a letter of support from a national agency or ministry. This may be in any language.

4. Anything else you think may help us to assess if you meet the requirements for membership.

About the roadmap: This document should show that you are running a Barnahus or one is the planning, and describe your plans for development, capacity building, awareness-raising or any other activity that you engage in. It should describe the commitment and action taken by the applicant to establish, promote, develop or implement Barnahus. It should give an overview of what stage you are in implementing Barnahus, including any areas which are not yet implemented or are actively being worked on. This document can take any format, including a letter, an annual report, a planning document, or something else that you already use for your planning or reporting. We encourage using existing documents rather than creating a new one for this application, and filling in any additional information in the letter.
Associate member applications

Please submit:

1. A letter about your work promoting Barnahus, and motivating why you want to join the Network, in English. Explain what you can contribute to the network and what you hope that membership can contribute to your work.

2. Any relevant documents/links which can help us to verify what you wrote in your letter. These may be in any language.

Your letter should describe your past, current, and planned involvement and activities to promote Barnahus. It should give us an overview of your commitment and action taken to promote, develop, establish or implement Barnahus. It should also give us insight on to what extent any current services you provide (if relevant) are meeting the Barnahus Quality Standards, and what stage you are in your national/local progress to bring Barnahus online.

Please also describe your cooperation with local/regional/national actors on the topic of Barnahus, including if you participate in any working groups.
