EPOC recognizes its duty to assist in the education of individuals planning a career in the environmental industry. Consequently, the EPOC Environmental Scholarship Fund was established in 1998. The purpose of the Scholarship Fund is to assist Connecticut residents, or an immediate family member (spouse or child) of an EPOC Member in good standing, who are enrolled in accepted programs of study (see below) preparing the student to become a Technical Environmental Professional* in the State of Connecticut as defined by the CT DEEP, or a professional in a related service discipline who may render technical assistance to the Technical Environmental Professional.
*As defined by the CT DEEP, a Technical Environmental Professional (TEP) is anyone, including a Licensed Environmental Professional, who collects soil, water vapor, or air samples in order to investigate and remediate pollution to the state's soil or water, and who may be directly employed or retained as a consultant by a public or private employer.
Eligibility
- Must be a Connecticut resident, OR an immediate family member (spouse or child) of an EPOC Member in good standing.
- Must be attending an accredited college or university (CT colleges or out of state colleges) and enrolled in a bachelor, master or PhD degree program.
- Must be either entering Junior year, Senior, or Graduate level student (full or part time).
- Must have declared majors pertinent to the environmental field (see Accepted Programs of Study below).

Application Instructions
EPOC accepts applications for our scholarship awards from Jan 1st - April 30 each year. Our committee reviews applications in May, and awards are given soon thereafter to allow for grants to be applied prior to school tuition bills for the upcoming semester. Although you can apply for this scholarship with this form, we do require you to submit your transcripts by mail to: EPOC Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 176, Amston, CT 06231-0176 OR by secure download (Email: epoc@epoc.org). Also, please note that while financial need may be taken into consideration, the scholarship will not be awarded solely on a financial need basis.
Section 1. This section asks for contact information and about your activities, awards, etc.
Section 2. This section requests information about your declared major concentration of study. (The fund supports disciplines within the environmental industry. Please see list above.)
Section 3. This section requests a 400-500 word essay. (We are interested in how you logically assemble your thoughts and ideas.)
Section 4. This section is for recommendations from your instructors. (We want to know how your teachers perceive your chances for success in this industry.) Please list two (2) instructors and provide a letter of reference from one of the instructors to be submitted to EPOC under separate cover or confidential E-mail/fax.
