McColl Center is seeking staff interested in working alongside local artists to help teach students in rising grades 1st to 6th during the 2025 Creativity Camp season.
Job Description and Duties
- Assist Teaching Artists with set-up and preparation of materials for instruction.
- Create a welcoming and supportive environment for all students.
- Ensure that students remain focused on their tasks and implement classroom management tools alongside the instructor.
- Be proactive in meeting the needs of both students and instructors.
- Help manage drop-off and pick-up alongside Creativity Camp Coordinator and Youth Programs Director.
- Commit to working a minimum of 4 weeks of camp.
Qualifications
- Candidates must be 18 years or older.
- Interest in a career in the arts or in education.
- Experience and knowledge of working with children; particularly with how to engage and manage a group of students.
- Ability to communicate in an effective and timely manner.
- Maintain trust and professionalism within the organization and ability to take initiative while following guidelines set up by McColl Center staff and Teaching Artists.
Details
- Camp Assistants are asked to be on campus from 8:45-4:15. Camp runs Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Punctuality is a necessity.
- Camps will take place weekly between June 16th and August 15th, with a week off for July 4th.
- Instructors and coordinators will receive an hour’s break for lunch from either 11:00-12:00 or 12:00-1:00 (unpaid) during which they may leave campus.
- Compensation for the Camp Assistant position is $20 per hour.
