This Intermediate 8 week throwing class is intended for potters who are looking to advance their pottery wheel skills. Students will learn to throw consistent and repetitive forms, increase the height of their vessels while throwing with more weight as well as beginning to explore personal style. Projects will include stacking and altering thrown forms, creating gallery and flange lidded jars, exploration of surface design and creation of underglaze transfers. There will be a focus on gaining understanding of glaze application to gain more predictable final results. Pre requisite skills for this class are centring, pulling even walls and an understanding of trimming.

Cancellation and refund policy

Due to limited seating, we request that you cancel at least 48 hours before a scheduled class. This gives us the opportunity to fill the class. You may cancel by phone. If you have to cancel your class, we offer you a credit to your account if you cancel before the 48 hours, but do not offer refunds. You may use these credits towards any future class. However, if you do not cancel prior to the 48 hours, you will lose the deposit for the class. The owner has the only right to be flexible here.

 

Clay Damage

Kiln clay explosions are unlikely but they do happen. In the event of a clay piece being damaged due to a kiln explosion, we are happy to provide emotional support and offer you a chance to come in and remake your art piece. Refunds are not provided for damaged clay due to kiln explosions. Please note each artist is responsible for ensuring pieces are securely attached in order to avoid breakage.
