    Scholarship Guidelines

    Purpose:

    Austin Tyler Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is focused on improving the lives of individuals and communities, often through charitable programs and initiatives. One of the foundation’s core purposes is issuing a scholarship to support the education and personal development of deserving students who may face financial barriers to higher education.  

    Awards:

    Scholarship amounts vary from year-to-year. The number of scholarship awards is determined by the available funds from the organization’s fundraiser.

    Eligibility Criteria:

    To be eligible for a Austin Tyler Foundation scholarship, you must:

    1.     Be an eligible graduating high school senior.

    2.     Have a minimum grade point average of 2.75.

    3.     Be accepted and verify enrollment at an accredited college/university, community college, or technical school.

    4.     Submit an essay via email (750-1000 words).

    5.     Demonstrate outstanding leadership skills, participate in community service and extra-curricular activities.

    Application Requirements:

    The applicant shall provide the Scholarship Committee a complete application packet which includes:

    1.     Completed scholarship application and official high school transcript submitted via email to austintylerscholarships@gmail.com

    2.     Official high school transcript (which must be submitted by the high school counselor via email to austintylerscholarships@gmail.com).

    3.     Two reference letters. Letters of reference must be written by a counselor, school administrator, or a teacher. The second letter should be by an unrelated person who verifies your community service. All letters must be written on letterhead, printed, signed and then saved as a pdf document.

    4.     Provide a professional photo of the applicant.

    5.     Completed Media Release Form signed by applicant and parent/guardian.

    6.     Personal Essay.

    7.     Completed Applicant Certification Form signed by applicant and/or parent/guardian.

    Limitations:

    1.     Scholarships are granted on a one-time only basis for the first year of attendance at an accredited college/university, community college, or technical school.

    2.     Once the Verification of Enrollment document is received by the committee, the scholarship request will be honored. The Scholarship check is made payable to the college/university and is sent directly to the school. Scholarship awards must be used for payment towards tuition, room and board, books and/or other required fees.

    3.     Additional cost of travel, personal needs and incidentals are the responsibility of the individual.

    4.     The Austin Tyler Foundation reserves the right to rescind the award as indicated in the Applicant Certification.

    The Austin Tyler Foundation thanks you for your interest in applying for one of our scholarships. As you complete the online scholarship application, please take note of the following:

    1.     Please request your official transcript as soon as possible. Please give your school official at least two weeks to process your request. Applications will be considered incomplete if the transcript is received after March 13, 2026. (Transcript submission instructions will be included in the email sent to the high school counselor).

    2.     Please use the SAVE option to save your application if you are unable to complete the application in one sitting. When saving your online scholarship application for the first time, you will be prompted to create or sign into a JotForm account.

    3.     If the online scholarship application needs to be saved, you should not upload documents or sign forms until you are ready to submit your application. Files uploaded to the form and signatures will NOT be saved to the form until the form is submitted. Please make signing and uploading documents the last step prior to selecting the SUBMIT button.

  • The Scholarship Application deadline submission date is March 13, 2026. Application will not be considered if received after the due date.

  • Essay: Provide responses to the questions below.

    1. Describe your career and education plans, and any other information you find would be valuable to the selection committee.

    2. Describe all extra-curricular, school service-related activities- including any service you provide to others in your school. Do not use abbreviations for any organizations.

    3. Describe in detail your community service involvement. Do not include school activities in # 2 above.

    Submit completed application. Must include:

    • Completed application form
    • Essay responses to items 1-3 above (750-1000 words total, double spaced)
    • Two references: 1 from high school faculty member, and 1 from unrelated community service organization
    • Official transcript-submitted to email address provided, by your high school counselor.
