Scholarship Guidelines
Purpose:
Austin Tyler Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is focused on improving the lives of individuals and communities, often through charitable programs and initiatives. One of the foundation’s core purposes is issuing a scholarship to support the education and personal development of deserving students who may face financial barriers to higher education.
Awards:
Scholarship amounts vary from year-to-year. The number of scholarship awards is determined by the available funds from the organization’s fundraiser.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for a Austin Tyler Foundation scholarship, you must:
1. Be an eligible graduating high school senior.
2. Have a minimum grade point average of 2.75.
3. Be accepted and verify enrollment at an accredited college/university, community college, or technical school.
4. Submit an essay via email (750-1000 words).
5. Demonstrate outstanding leadership skills, participate in community service and extra-curricular activities.
Application Requirements:
The applicant shall provide the Scholarship Committee a complete application packet which includes:
1. Completed scholarship application and official high school transcript submitted via email to austintylerscholarships@gmail.com
2. Official high school transcript (which must be submitted by the high school counselor via email to austintylerscholarships@gmail.com).
3. Two reference letters. Letters of reference must be written by a counselor, school administrator, or a teacher. The second letter should be by an unrelated person who verifies your community service. All letters must be written on letterhead, printed, signed and then saved as a pdf document.
4. Provide a professional photo of the applicant.
5. Completed Media Release Form signed by applicant and parent/guardian.
6. Personal Essay.
7. Completed Applicant Certification Form signed by applicant and/or parent/guardian.
Limitations:
1. Scholarships are granted on a one-time only basis for the first year of attendance at an accredited college/university, community college, or technical school.
2. Once the Verification of Enrollment document is received by the committee, the scholarship request will be honored. The Scholarship check is made payable to the college/university and is sent directly to the school. Scholarship awards must be used for payment towards tuition, room and board, books and/or other required fees.
3. Additional cost of travel, personal needs and incidentals are the responsibility of the individual.
4. The Austin Tyler Foundation reserves the right to rescind the award as indicated in the Applicant Certification.
