Athlete Team Member Agreement

TEAM NEWFOUNDLAND & LABRADOR - CANADA GAMES

As a member of Team Newfoundland and Labrador understand and agree that:

1. Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures

a.      I have read, understand and agree to abide by the Team Newfoundland and Labrador Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures as provided in the Team NL Canada Games Manual available at teamnl.ca/documents.

b.     I have chosen to participate in the Canada Games and will follow the rules and regulations of Team NL, the Host Society and the Canada Games Council;

c.     Should I fail to adhere to the rules and regulations referred to in (a) and (b) above, actions will be reviewed and I will be disciplined. Pending the nature of the infraction, disciplinary sanctions may include my dismissal from Team NL and return from the Canada Games at my own expense.

d.     As an athlete named to the TeamNL contingent, I understand I have a right to train and compete in a safe environment, free from maltreatment of any kind from coaches, managers, TeamNL staff and other participants. I am aware of the Safe Sport resources on the TeamNL website that are made available to me and have reviewed how to spot potential maltreatment around me. I am also aware of how to report suspected maltreatment and agree to do so if I have any suspicion that maltreatment is occurring.  

 

2. Clothing Agreement

a.     The Team NL uniform which will be provided to me remains the property of Team NL for the full period of my attendance at the Canada Games;

b.     I will maintain the Team NL uniform in good condition until the Chef de Mission determines that all competition and official functions are complete and that uniform trading is permitted;

c.     If disciplinary sanctions are levied against me at any time after receiving the uniform and prior to the conclusion of the Canada Games, I may be required to return the uniform to the Chef de Mission. I will return it in the same condition in which it was received;

d.     If, at any time after receiving the uniform and prior to the conclusion of the Canada Games, I am removed from Team NL for disciplinary reasons, I will be required to return the uniform to the Chef de Mission, and it shall be in the same condition in which it was received.

 

3. Roles and Responsibilities: As an Athlete chosen to represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the Canada Games, I understand and agree to fulfill the following responsibilities:

a.     Sign the Team Newfoundland and Labrador Member Agreement;

b.     Fully participate in training as directed by the teams coaches;

c.     Compete to the best of their ability, in a fair and sportsmanlike manner;

d.     Show respect for all officials and volunteers leading up to, during and after the Games, including competition officials, Canada Games Council and Host Society members, the Chef de Mission, Assistant Chef de Mission; mission staff, and coaching staff;

e.     Assist the sport team in its fundraising efforts;

f.      Attend all functions as required by Team NL before and during the Games, including the official Opening/Closing Ceremonies;

g.     Know, understand and abide by the Code of Conduct and the Dress Code established by Team NL;

h.     Complete antidoping education requirements;

i.      Complete medical, registration and other forms before deadlines;

j.      Reside in the Athletes’ Village during the Canada Games;

k.     Report problems and incidents occurring during the Games to a team coach or manager;

l.      Always wear their provincial colours with pride, never participating in any activities which may bring their province into disrepute;

m.   Obey the laws of the Criminal Code of Canada

n.     Adhere to all public health measures and medical precautions established by federal, provincial and municipal governments and any additional operational guidelines set by the CGC and Host Society. These may include, but are not limited to, testing, PPE guidelines, vaccination requirements, and capacity limitations in defined spaces. All guidelines specific to each Games will be outlined prior to team departure

 

4. Media Release: I hereby consent to the use, reproduction, editing and/or broadcast by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and/or Team NL and their respective members, officers, directors, employees, volunteers and agents of any and all photographs, video, audio recordings and comments attributed to me and collected during any aspect of my participation with TeamNL, and to allow the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and TeamNL to use these photographs, video, audio recordings and comments in any future print or electronic publishing. All positives, prints, audio and video recordings, and any other digital media taken by and/or on behalf of TeamNL shall constitute the property of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and TeamNL and/or the photographer/digital media recorder/writer.

I hereby release any photographers/videographers/writers, as well as the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and TeamNL and their respective members, officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents and all successors and assigns, from all claims and liabilities relating to such photographs, video, audio recordings and comments, and waive any rights of compensation or ownership thereto.

being the parent/guardian of the above team member (herein called “my child”) do hereby agree and acknowledge that:

a.     I have read and understand the entire content of this Team Newfoundland and Labrador Member Agreement, and the Team Newfoundland and Labrador Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures applicable to the Canada Games in which my child will participate;

b.     I have explained to my child the consequences of signing this Team Member Agreement;

c.     This Team Member Agreement is, on the whole, beneficial to my child.

All Team Newfoundland and Labrador members must sign and submit the Team Member Agreement for their position before they can participate in the Canada Games.
