as a member of Team Newfoundland and Labrador understand and agree that:
1. Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures
a. I have read, understand and agree to abide by the Team Newfoundland and Labrador Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures as provided in the TeamNL Canada Games Manual available at teamnl.ca/documents.
b. I have chosen to participate in the Canada Games and will follow the rules and regulations of TeamNL, the Host Society and the Canada Games Council;
c. Should I fail to adhere to the rules and regulations referred to in (a) and (b) above, actions will be reviewed and I will be disciplined. Pending the nature of the infraction, disciplinary sanctions may include my dismissal from TeamNL and return from the Canada Games at my own expense.
d. As a member of the TeamNL contingent, I will complete NCCPs Safe Sport Training Module prior to departure for the Games. I understand the importance of recognizing maltreatment and the importance of implementing the Rule of Two in all scenarios. As a member of TeamNL, it is my responsibility to report any suspected maltreatment to the Canadian Sport Helpline as outlined on the TeamNL/CGC website and made available to all contingent members prior to team departure.
2. Clothing Agreement
a. The TeamNL uniform which will be provided to me remains the property of TeamNL for the full period of my attendance at the Canada Games;
b. I will maintain the TeamNL uniform in good condition until the Chef de Mission determines that all competition and official functions are complete and that uniform trading is permitted;
c. If disciplinary sanctions are levied against me at any time after receiving the uniform and prior to the conclusion of the Canada Games, I may be required to return the uniform to the Chef de Mission. I will return it in the same condition in which it was received;
d. If, at any time after receiving the uniform and prior to the conclusion of the Canada Games, I am removed from TeamNL for disciplinary reasons, I will be required to return the uniform to the Chef de Mission, and it shall be in the same condition in which it was received.
3. Roles and Responsibilities: As Head Coach chosen to represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the Canada Games, I understand and agree to fulfill the following responsibilities:
a. To provide overall leadership to my team, and supervise other team staff;
b. To ensure that my Assistant Coach &/or Team Manager completes all administrative duties and meets deadlines as required;
c. To instill the spirit of the Canada Games in each of my team’s athletes;
d. To maintain close liaison with the Games Coordinator and Chef de Mission on all Canada Games matters, and identify team staff and areas of responsibility;
e. To know, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures, and roles and responsibilities for my position, as detailed in the Team Newfoundland and Labrador Canada Games Policies and Procedures Manual;
f. To ensure that all of my team members know, understand and adhere to Team Newfoundland and Labrador’s Code of Conduct and Dress Code;
g. To abide by and enforce all rules established by my sport team, my Provincial Sport Organization, Team Newfoundland and Labrador, the Canada Games Council and the Host Society;
h. To be familiar with the roles and responsibilities of Mission Staff and maintain close liaison with the Mission Staff member assigned to my sport before, during and immediately after the Canada Games;
i. To attend or ensure that an official designate attends, all required meetings and official functions before and during the Games;
j. To keep parents, guardians and athletes fully informed on all matters relating to the Canada Games;
k. To act as a spokesperson for the team, unless directed otherwise by my provincial sport organization
As Head Coach, I also agree to the following areas of responsibility:
Prior to the Games:
l. To achieve appropriate NCCP equivalent designation by the required deadline;
m. To assist with the selection of assistant coaches, participant assistants when required, and the team manager;
n. To develop and submit a budget to my Provincial Sport Organization for inclusion in the Recreation and Sport Division grad application;
o. To sit as a member of the Athlete Selection Criteria Development Committee;
p. To develop, and present to my Provincial Sport Organization for approval, a plan for the selection and training of the team;
q. To guide the athlete selection process in accordance with guidelines and specifications approved by the Athlete Selection Criteria Development Committee and my Provincial Sport Organization;
r. To prepare my athletes to achieve the best possible competitive results, in a fair and sportsmanlike manner;
s. If necessary, to discipline, suspend or dismiss athletes in accordance with established procedures;
t. To participate in the high performance training program planned and delivered by the NL Sports Center staff.
During the Games:
u. To supervise my team’s athletes and be responsible for their conduct before, during and immediately after the Games, including during travel to and from the Games;
v. To report Code of Conduct violations and to participate in the disciplinary process as outlined in the Team Newfoundland and Labrador Canada Games Policies and procedures Manual;
w. To reside in the Athletes’ Village during the Canada Games;
x. To provide competition results when requested by Mission Staff.
y. Adhere to all public health measures and medical precautions established by federal, provincial and municipal governments and any additional operational guidelines set by the CGC and Host Society. These may include, but are not limited to, testing, PPE guidelines, vaccination requirements, and capacity limitations in defined spaces. All guidelines specific to each Games will be outlined prior to team departure
4. Media Release: I hereby consent to the use, reproduction, editing and/or broadcast by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and/or TeamNL and their respective members, officers, directors, employees, volunteers and agents of any and all photographs, video, audio recordings and comments attributed to me and collected during any aspect of my participation with TeamNL, and to allow the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and TeamNL to use these photographs, video, audio recordings and comments in any future print or electronic publishing. All positives, prints, audio and video recordings, and any other digital media taken by and/or on behalf of TeamNL shall constitute the property of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and TeamNL and/or the photographer/digital media recorder/writer.
I hereby release any photographers/videographers/writers, as well as the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and TeamNL and their respective members, officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents and all successors and assigns, from all claims and liabilities relating to such photographs, video, audio recordings and comments, and waive any rights of compensation or ownership thereto.
