• KEEP BRENTWOOD RESPONSIBLE - A Call for a Public Referendum for Capital Spending on a City-Owned Tennis/Pickleball Club Facility with Taxpayer Money.

In spite of mounting community concerns, the City of Brentwood has been moving forward on building a city-owned, taxpayer-subsidized Tennis & Pickleball Club on parkland near Crockett Elementary, Woodland Middle, and Holy Family Church.  Costs are estimated to likely exceed $18 million.  If completed, this will be the largest non-essential project funded in the history of Brentwood, and a change in direction for the city.  The undersigned Brentwood citizens support a pause in further spending on such a project until the citizens of Brentwood are allowed to vote in a referendum to show public support or the lack thereof for such a use of taxpayer dollars whether money comes from debt, reserves or through the re-allocation of funds for other projects in Brentwood. We propose a referendum to appear on the May 6, 2025 ballot alongside the City Commission elections. PLEASE SIGN BELOW TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR A PUBLIC REFERENDUM.
  • Please consider supporting this effort to have a referendum today.  The City Commission will be discussing a referendum at the January 13th (7pm) and January 27th (7pm) meetings.

The names collected will only be shared with the city for the purposes of showing public support for a referendum and will NOT be shared otherwise.  Email addresses will only be used to communicate progress for these efforts and will not be shared with any organization or candidate.  Address is used to verify Brentwood residence only.  Each voter in the home should sign up!

  • This petition was started by Devin McClendon.  I'm a 51 year resident of Brentwood who is concerned about the possibility of such a large spend for a niche project without a citizen referendum.  If there is support for the project in a referendum, great, the voters will have spoken.  If there is not, the commission should be bound by the wishes of the citizens.  As of January 10th, 4 commissioners are against a simple referndum.  If you have questions, please feel free to reach out at devin at mcclendons dot com.
