Thank you for your interest in the Yale Undergraduate Consulting Group (YUCG)!
YUCG is excited to get to know you. Just as importantly, we want prospective applicants to get to know current YUCG members before formally applying to our organization. These chats are excellent, low-stakes opportunities to talk with a current member — whether you have no idea what consulting is, you're on the fence about applying, or just want to feel out the vibe of our community! These chats will be with either general members or board members who volunteer to happily address any concerns or questions you may have. Subsequently, we cannot guarantee coffee chats for all prospective applicants.
Each coffee chat will be one-on-one, organized by a YUCG member and prospective applicant. They will take the form of a quick coffee chat or a sit-down meal at a dining hall. They are intentionally informal to allow applicants to learn about YUCG and how they may contribute to our organization at large. Applicants are encouraged to use this time in whatever manner is best for them.
Coffee chat requests are reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority for individuals whose identities have been historically underrepresented in the professional world.
Coffee chats will take place up until written applications are due.
Notes: Though we will be happy to help you with your application, we cannot go into any specific edits during this chat; rather, for edit-related questions, we encourage you to attend the Application Workshop & Office Hours, where you request extensive feedback on your entire application.
We encourage all interested individuals to apply. Our best (and the majority of our) members applied without any consulting or even "business" experience! Research indicates that individuals identifying with underrepresented groups often experience imposter syndrome and may doubt the strength of their candidacy. We urge you not to self-select out prematurely and to submit an application if this work sounds exciting to you. Given the significant impact of our consulting services, we believe representation is crucial. We strive to include diverse perspectives on our team to ensure comprehensive and inclusive solutions for our clients.
