BEFORE YOU APPLY: TIPS FOR FILLING OUT THIS FORM
(Thanks for reading through this carefully)
1. Again, this form is due at 11:59pm (Mountain Daylight Time) on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Reach out to Gallery Manager brian@carbondalearts.com or call 970-963-1680 with questions.
2. There is no fee to submit this form until March 14, 2025; after that date the fee increases to $30.
3. We recommend that you download and review this PDF which includes all the questions you will see in the proposal form. We suggest writing out your answers in a separate document beforehand. This form WILL NOT save your responses until you finally submit at the bottom of the page.
4. Be sure to read our Gallery Protocol document which has specific information about sales, insurance, shipping, and more. This is a separate document available at https://www.carbondalearts.com/gallery/#exhibition-resources and also linked below.
5. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you submit images that are of good quality, clear, in focus, and have adequate/balanced lighting for coloration. We review all images on a large screen or projector, so images must be easily viewed full size on a computer monitor without pixelating. If you have questions/concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
WHAT TO EXPECT IF YOUR PROPOSAL IS ACCEPTED
1. The Carbondale Arts Gallery Committee reviews all submitted proposals in mid-May and will confirm your status no later than mid-July. If accepted, you will receive an artist agreement with upcoming deadlines for 2026.
2. Make sure to read our gallery's mission and vision statements at the top of this page. One of our top priorities for each exhibition is to create connections with our community in meaningful ways. When you fill out the proposal form, think about how you might use your exhibition (beyond the opening reception) to further activate and engage visitors. This can vary widely from show to show, anywhere from an extra artist talk for our members/patrons to a workshop or demonstration to the public. “out of the box” ideas are welcome as we encourage all forms of creativity.
3. We will schedule a studio visit (if/when possible) around 6 weeks before your opening reception. Studio visits are a wonderful way for our Gallery Committee to know more about you and your practice, developing a deeper level of appreciation for your art.
