Not only was New York City the birthplace of the American film industry, New York has provided the fertile setting for movies from Edison's early experimental reels to Harold Lloyd's classic "Speedy" to this year's Oscar-contender "A Complete Unknown."
Rather than approach the story of the city on film chronologically based on when the films were made, this talk will, instead, follow the history of the city--from the Dutch colonists to the city of the future--based on when the films are set. A fun-filled romp with plenty of video excerpts, this presentation will have something for everyone.
