Building honey bee colonies through community: A collaboration of Storehouses Foundation with Pollinator Partnership Canada
We are seeking proposals for research identifying practices that raise viable honey bee colonies in the Canadian beekeeping community to increase and sustain honey bee populations.
Background:
The Storehouses Foundation, a Canadian charitable Foundation, has been investing in raising honey bee colonies around the world, including Kenya and Ecuador. This new initiative, in partnership with Pollinator Partnership Canada, continues our commitment to the protection and promotion of pollinators and ecosystems through research and practice.
Total Award: $60,000
We anticipate supporting several proposals with the possibility for larger awards for relevant work at the discretion of the selection committee.
Priority Areas:
Projects fulfilling the mission of this fund fit the following criteria:
1) novel approaches
2) prioritize collaboration at the level of researcher and beekeeper
3) applied practical research
4) clear metrics on expected benefits to honey bee population
We are open to a variety of budget requirements. Funds must be used within
a one-year period. Proposals should focus on applied research and must
include the involvement of beekeepers. Researchers, Masters and Doctoral
Students, Post docs, and Principal Investigators working in honey bee health
and management are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to Bee
Campus associated applicants.
Funding Decisions
The proposals will be evaluated, and funding notifications will be made by
April 15th, 2025. Successful awardees will be invited to present an update on their research at a virtual research symposium in 2026.
