Our History
Phi Beta Sigma ( was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C. on January 9, 1914 by three young African-American male students. The founders A. Langston Taylor, Leonard F. Morse, and Charles I. Brown, wanted to organize a Greek letter fraternity that would exemplify the ideals of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service.
The PROGRAM
The Theta Delta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated will provide scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic school year to deserving high school graduating seniors who demonstrate academic and community service excellence.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the Scholarship, the student must:
- Be a United States citizen (subject to verification) Currently enrolled in high school.
- Be a high school senior planning to enroll in a full-time accredited postsecondary institution.
* *Approved accredited institutions are defined as Title IV eligible, accredited, postsecondary two- or four- year colleges or universities, vocational, or technical schools in the United States. Proof of enrollment is a condition of eligibility for a scholarship award.
APPLICATION
Interested students must complete the scholarship application along with the following:
- A 500-word maximum typed essay (see essay topic on application
- Two (2) letters of recommendation (must be from a teacher, counselor, Minister or Community Leader, or school official).
- Official transcript required.
- Acceptance letter from college of choice (if possible)
- Community Service - Produce a signed letter from the organization/church affiliation on an official letterhead with contact information.
The application and all required supporting documents (transcript, letters of recommendation and essay) must be submitted by March 28, 2025. Applications submitted after this date WILL NOT be considered.
All information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Scholarship Committee.
