Although we do get small dogs on occasion, most of the dogs we have at our Adoption Center are medium to large in size. Since our dogs spend most of their time in their kennels, they often have a lot of energy and it is not uncommon for a dog to jump, pull hard on their leash, or get overstimulated. Do you feel comfortable and physically able to manage this?

If you are not sure if you are comfortable and/or physically able to handle a medium to large who may jump, pull hard on their leash, and/or get overstimulated. We would recommend one of the following: 1) If you are interested in other volunteer opportunities at Paws4ever, please select another volunteer opportunity from the list above. This way, we can discuss your concerns and/or limitations with dogs when you come out for that training and schedule a Canine Companion training and/or Dog Handler for Events training if desired at that time. 2) If you are not interested in any other volunteer opportunities, please reach out to the Volunteer Manager (volunteer@paws4ever.org or 919-241-8438 x 105) about your concerns and/or limitations and we can discuss next steps.
