    ELF Mission
Supporting breakthrough educational endeavors in Custer County, the Educational Legacy Fund organization consists of individuals with expertise and passion for educational innovation. ELF supports out-of-the-ordinary educational experiences for students to expand their horizon, curiosity, and interaction with fresh ideas and experiences, in particular to offset the challenges faced by students in isolated rural communities such as ours.

ELF funds transformational proposals focusing on Custer County students’ readiness for life that are evaluated and monitored for long term effects – a legacy to increase access to knowledge. ELF is constantly searching for breakthrough ideas to expand educational opportunities and expose students to new career opportunities.  We support all students who live or go to school in Custer County or the Wet Mountain Valley, whether enrolled in public school, homeschooled or lifelong learners.

  • Program Summary
Please answer all questions as best as possible.

  • Cost Summary

A detailed cost summary of the program is to be attached. Costs are to be broken down with student’s financial responsibility (if applicable)  and ELF’s grant request. If the students will have a financial responsibility, fund raising options must be presented to help offset the financial responsibility of the student.

  • The ELF board may elect to fund none, all, or a portion of the requested budget amount.  Once a funding partnership decision has been determined, the ELF Coordinator will communicate with the Program Leader.

ELF may choose to fund a program on a per-student basis.  If the program is funded on a per-student basis, a specific donation amount should be requested for up to a maximum number of students. Should more than the stipulated maximum number of students apply to the program, the Program Leader will use a comprehensive application process to determine the accepted students for the program.  Should any donation-receiving student withdraw from the program, that student’s donation will be returned to ELF by the participant/family. The grant money will NOT be re-allocated among remaining students.

  • Help Us Build Our Presence in Our Community
Program Leader is to assist, where practical, with ELF’s brand awareness and impact tracking efforts, including:

    1.  In public communication, the program will recognize the Education Legacy Fund as a sponsor.
    2.  ELF photo releases will be obtained from the participant's parent/guardian.
    3.  Photos will be made available for ELF’s publicity and fundraising purposes.
    4.  Participants and families will be encouraged to provide email addresses to ELF for inclusion in ELF’s mailing list.
    5.  Program Leader will help coordinate participant involvement with a post-program report to the ELF board.
