Overview
The IKECA Technical Standards Development Committee consists of a Consensus Body (CB), a CB Chair and Vice Chair, and may include one or more subcommittees created by the CB. The CB is responsible for the development of IKECA standards, in accordance with the association's ANSI-accredited standards development procedures. The CB may appoint one or more subcommittees. Subcommittee members do not have to be members of the CB. In addition to the Consensus Body and/or its subcommittees, volunteers are needed to review draft standards and standards in progress.
The CB must be a diverse group representing the major interest groups in the development of standards for kitchen exhaust system cleaning, inspection and maintenance. The Consensus Body will include approximately 20 members. In IKECA's application for ANSI accreditation, IKECA identified ten primary interest groups that will be represented on the CB. These interest groups include: 1) Cleaning Contractor; 2) HVAC Contractor; 3) Fire Suppression Contractor; 4) Food Service/End User; 5) Fire Analysis Expert; 6) Designer; 7) Manufacturer; 8) Fire Prevention Authority; 9) Insurance.
Participation on the IKECA Technical Standards Development Committee, Consensus Body and/or subcommittees is volunteer participation. No compensation is provided. Volunteers are responsible for their own costs associated with IKECA standards work, including travel. It is anticipated that the Committee will meet at least six times annually, with at least two meetings in-person and the remainder by conference call. Meeting locations are TBD.
