Membership Types:

Indigenous-Led Gear Library: The organization is an Indigenous-led organization with the purpose of primarily supporting Indigenous communities to engage with the outdoors, particularly from cultural practices and perspectives. No Western-government recognition is required.

Activist-Led Gear Library: At least 50% of executive and/or board leadership is a member of a systemically & historically excluded demographic (BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, Differently Abled Bodies, Cultural/religious minority, etc)

Equity-Focused Gear Library: The organization has a primary focus of increasing equity, access, & diversity in outdoor spaces for communities that have lacked historical access, but our leadership does not have majority representation from historically excluded demographics.

Institutional Gear Library: The organization believes that all people should have access to the outdoors but we don't have a mission that explicitly calls for equitable access for historically excluded demographics.

OEN’s curates a wide range of significant discounts and donations from gear companies. https://www.outdoorsempowered.org/gear-resources

All members have access to the discounts, however, OEN will charge a consulting fee on discount and/or donation amounts over $5,000. Please note that discounts are generally between 35% to 60% off of the retail price.

We request a consulting deposit if you plan to purchase a significant amount of gear. We will notify you when your purchases incur additional consulting fees.

Leadership Engagement

OEN Members are able to get the most out of our services when Member executive/programmatic leadership are involved and in communication with OEN.  To this end, we kindly request that your organization's leadership schedule meetings with us at least twice per year.
