US Ski & Snowboard Concussion Policy
This is a waiver of certain legal rights. Please read carefully. You must agree to its terms to complete the registration process. Any U.S. SKI & SNOWBOARD athlete suspected of having sustained a concussion or traumatic brain injury must be removed immediately from participation in U.S. SKI & SNOWBOARD sporting event (e.g. sanctioned training, practice, camps, competitions or tryouts), by the Technical Delegate or U.S. SKI & SNOWBOARD member coach overseeing such sporting event. The athlete will be prohibited from further participation until evaluated and cleared in writing to resume participation in U.S. SKI & SNOWBOARD sporting events by a qualified health care provider trained in the evaluation and management of concussive head injuries. The health care professional must certify to U.S. SKI & SNOWBOARD in the clearance letter that he/she has successfully completed a continuing education course in the evaluation and management of concussive head injuries within three years of the day on which the written statement is made. Upon removal of an athlete from participation for a suspected concussion or traumatic brain injury, the U.S. SKI & SNOWBOARD TD or member coach making the removal must inform U.S. SKI & SNOWBOARD Competition Services. Athletes who have subsequently been medically cleared to resume participation must provide such medical clearance (as described above) to U.S. SKI & SNOWBOARD Competition Services in order to be permitted to participate in U.S. SKI & SNOWBOARD sporting events. About Concussion: A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury (TBI) caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head. Concussions can also occur from a fall or a blow to the body that causes the head and brain to move quickly back and forth. Doctors may describe a concussion as a "mild" brain injury because concussions are usually not life-threatening. Even so, their effects can be serious. Risk of Continued Participation: A repeat concussion that occurs before the brain recovers from the first-usually within a short period of time (hours, days, or weeks)-can slow recovery or increase the likelihood of having long-term problems. In rare cases, repeat concussions can result in edema (brain swelling), permanent brain damage, and even death. The U.S. SKI & SNOWBOARD recommends that Members review the Center for Disease
The U.S. SKI & SNOWBOARD recommends that Members review the Center for Disease Control's resources on concussion awareness at the following link:Parent & Athlete Concussion Information Sheet: https://www.cdc.gov/heads-up/media/pdfs/highschoolsports/parents_fact_sheet-a.pdf
I have carefully read the foregoing and understand it to be a legally binding release and indemnity agreement and agree to its terms

Copper Country Ski Tigers & MYXC Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability
In consideration of my child/ward being allowed to participate in any way in the Minnesota Youth Ski League (MYSL) related events and activities, I acknowledge, appreciate and agree that nordic skiing is an action sport carrying significant risk of personal injury, illness (ex: communicable diseases such as MRSA, influenza, and COVID-19), death or property damage. I also acknowledge that there are natural, mechanical and environmental conditions and risks, which independently or in combination with my activities, may cause property damage, illness, or severe or even fatal injuries to me or others. While particular rules, equipment and personal discipline may reduce these risks, the risks of serious injury and illness do exist. I, for myself and my child/ward, am responsible for: (a) my safety, and my child/ward’s safety while participating in any way in the MYSL related events and activities and (b) providing, utilizing and maintaining that equipment necessary for the safe enjoyment of my participation in such events. I hereby release the MYSL, the ski area, any sponsors or officials, and any agent, representative, officer, director, employee, member or affiliate of any person or entity named above, from any liability and all claims for damages for illness, death, personal injury, disability, or property damage resulting from my participation in MYSL events. I will accept and abide by the rules and regulations of the MYSL and any other rules or regulations imposed by the organizers of any particular competition. I, the parent/guardian, assert that I have explained to my child/ward: the risks of the activity, his/her responsibilities for adhering to the rules and regulations, and that my child/ward understands this agreement. In connection with my participation, and the participation of my child/ward, with MYSL activities, I consent to photographs being taken and publication, display, and exhibition by the MYSL of the photographs and my name for the sole purpose of MYSL promotional activities, without any further compensation to me.
I have carefully read the foregoing and understand it to be a legally binding release and indemnity agreement and agree to its terms
