• Pack 149 Overnight at the USS Lexington

    April 3, 2027 - April 4, 2027 @ USS Lexington
  • Event Information

An overnight adventure awaits our Tiger and Wolf scouts as we stay aboard the USS Lexington for our Spring overnight activity, a mighty, record-setting World War II aircraft carrier-turned museum located on Corpus Christi Bay.  The trip includes tours of the ship, stories of historical events, a scavenger hunt, a film in the 3D MEGA Theater, LEX ghost stories, two trips through the chow line, bunking in crew quarters and more!

The campout starts at 12pm on April 3rd.  All dens have to check in together.  The Lexington will be closed for entry and exit soon afterward.  Scouts should arrive in their "Class A" uniforms.  Please make sure to pack appropriately for the weather as some of the activities are outside.  You will want to bring a sleeping bag, a pillow, pajamas, toiletries, and a change of clothes for the next day.  Registration for this event closes on Monday, Feb 1st.

  •  Sleeping Quarters

As with any scouting event, each scout needs to have parent or guardian attending with them.

On the USS Lexington, sleeping quarters are individual bunks in rooms that are segregated by gender.  In the event that the parent or guardian is not the same gender as the scout, a parent or guardian of the same gender of that scout must be identified to be responsible for that scout overnight.  Overnight, one parent or guardian can be responsible for more than one scout.

Please note that these are the rules of the USS Lexington, not Pack 149.  While we are on the ship we must follow their rules, and they will not make any exceptions.

  • Important to Know Before You Book

    • Pack 149 MUST arrive at the SAME TIME for check-in.  The check-in briefing is an important part of our group’s overnight experience and required by the USS Lexington. Therefore, we have been requested to drive in a caravan to have all of our vehicles arrive at the same time.
    • Male and female berthing areas are separate.  Parents if you are visiting with opposite sex children you will need to pack separate bags. If a mother is travelling alone with her son or vice versa, you will NOT be sleeping in the same areas.  We prefer every child have someone of the same gender who can supervise their child during the night.  Please let us know ahead if this is an issue.
    • Minimum age is 7yrs.  Please do not bring younger siblings under age 7.
    • All gear must be carried down one or two steep stairways (ladders), so please pack light/do not overpack.  We recommend duffle bags or backpacks, NOT suitcases.  Each overnight camper must bring a pillow, sleeping bag, toiletries, towel and flashlight.  Hand sanitizer and insect repellent are also advisable.
    • Bring a lock to secure your belongings.  Lockers are available in berthing compartments. Each camper should bring a lock to secure his or her valuables and personal belongings.
    • Close-toed shoes highly recommended.
    • Facilities:  Toilets (heads) include showers.  There are a few electrical outlets in berthing areas and more are available in the lounge and gameroom.
    • Meals:  Dinner and breakfast are provided for overnight stays.  Dietary restrictions MUST be specified before arrival for accommodation.  Vending machines are available for snacks in the lounge.
    • NO food is allowed in the berthing areas.  Please do not bring food items of any kind with you.  If your dietary needs require special food you may bring it in an ice chest and we will make arrangements to store it outside of the berthing area.
    • Additional costs (optional):  Ship’s Store and The Mess Deck Cafe (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM), Flight Simulator ($5.00 per person), vending machines, and a coin-operated game room.
