  • Image-47
  • Thank you for your interest in Pinewoods Scottish Sessions 2025!

We are planning a great session and we hope you will be able to join us.

Here's how to fill out the online registration:

    • Please fill out a separate registration for each camper.

    • A $50 deposit is required per session ($100 for both sessions) for each registrant, including those applying for financial assistance, to reserve your place at camp. Deposit is nonrefundable if your registration is accepted (unless your full attendance fee is waived via scholarship). Full payment will be due in June with camper surveys.

There are two ways you can submit your deposit:
      1. Mail a check or money order to the address given at the end of the form. This address will also be included in your confirmation email.
      2. Electronic payment. You may submit your deposit electronically at the end of the registration form.

    • If there are more registrations received than there are spots at camp, acceptances will be determined by lottery. A separate lottery will be run for each session, if needed, and campers who register jointly will enter the lottery together. In the event of a lottery, registrations (including deposits) received by March 15th will entered into the lottery.

    • Registrations received after March 15th will be processed in the order they are received.

    • You will be notified of your acceptance or waitlisting by March 24th

Pinewoods Scottish Sessions is now open to dancers of all ages. Dancers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for them at all times. There will not be separate classes or programming for younger attendees.

Part-time attendance cannot be considered. No visitors or pets are permitted at camp.

If you have any questions about Pinewoods, youth attendance, or the registration process, please visit our website at http://rscdsboston.org/pinewoods-scottish-sessions.html, or contact the co-chairs at scdpinewoods@gmail.com.

We hope to see you at camp in 2025!

    Slainte,

    Marc and Keira

  • Financial Assistance

  • Both RSCDS Boston and Pinewoods Camp offer financial assistance and scholarships to help defray the cost of Pinewoods. If you are interested in any of the following, we encourage you to apply.

  • Kitchen Work Exchange

In exchange for helping out as a dishwasher after meals (two meals per day), recipients will receive a 50% reduction in their attendance fees. Work exchange decisions will be made by the Scottish Sessions co-chairs.

For the safety of Pinewoods staff, expect to be required to wear a high-filtration (N95 or equivalent) mask while in the kitchen.

  • Pinewoods Camp, Inc Scholarships

PCI supports diversity in the folk arts community by offering scholarships at each of the sessions held at Pinewoods.

New Generation Initiative (NGI) scholarships are intended for campers between the ages of 15 and 30 who are new to Pinewoods Camp and are interested in leadership roles in traditional music, dance, and song. Each recipient is expected to take full advantage of classes and activities.

Need-based scholarships are available to any age camper who demonstrates need for financial assistance to attend camp. Preference may be given to those who are new to camp.

BIPOC Scholarships are intended for any age camper who identifies as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color. Recipients may be experienced or new to our music and dance tradition; preference may be given to those who are new to camp.

After camp, all scholarship recipients will be encouraged to provide stories, photos, and feedback from their time and experience at camp.

More information about PCI scholarships can be found at https://pinewoods.org/camp-sessions/scholarship-info/.

Decisions will be made by the Scottish Sessions co-chairs. Please indicate whether you would like to apply, and we will be in touch with you to follow up.

  • SDCEA Scholarships

The Scottish Dance and Cultural Education Association of Boston (SDCEA) administers several scholarship funds which can provide 50% funding for Pinewoods, available to both Boston Branch members and non-members.

  • Family Week

Family Week will be the session after Scottish II (July 12-19). Do you plan on attending?

  • Pinewoods Scottish Sessions COVID Acknowledgement

  • Pinewoods Camp, Inc. establishes minimum COVID guidelines for the safety of both campers and Pinewoods Crew. The 2025 guidelines can be found at https://pinewoods.org/covid-guidelines/

All campers must bring a minimum number of rapid tests (RAT or NAAT):

    • Session I Only: 3 tests
    • Session II Only: 4 tests
    • Both Sessions: 7 tests if leaving camp between sessions. 4 tests required if remaining between sessions, but we recommend you bring 7 in case a positive test necessitates additional testing.

All campers must bring a supply of high-filtration (N95 or equivalent) masks in case they are needed.

Campers are strongly encouraged to get the most recent vaccine/booster.

Campers are strongly encouraged to exercise caution in the week before camp and while travelling to camp by wearing high-filtration masks in indoor public areas.

RSCDS Boston will refund all or part of the Pinewoods attendance fee of any camper who cannot attend all or part of their session(s) as a result of COVID symptoms or a positive test.

Pinewoods Camp and RSCDS Boston may change their requirements and policies as July approaches. Campers will also be required to abide by any other guidelines from the CDC and the local health department that are in effect in July. Our aim is to make camp a comfortable space while keeping our campers and Pinewoods staff safe.

More details will be emailed closer to camp.

  • RSCDS Boston Branch Policy Regarding Participation in Branch Events

  • Classes and events sponsored by the RSCDS Boston Branch are intended to
be pleasurable occasions for learning and enjoying the performance of
Scottish country dancing. To foster those goals and to ensure the safety of
all, the Branch expects that everyone attending its events will conduct
themselves courteously and with appropriate respect for other participants.

Physical contact and flirting are integral parts of Scottish Country Dancing,
but it is important to be sure that everyone involved is a willing participant,
both on and off the dance floor. If someone is making you uncomfortable by
touching you, flirting with you, making suggestive comments, following
you, etc., you are encouraged to inform the event organizers or any member
of the Executive Committee, who will address the issue.

The RSCDS Boston Branch reserves the right to expel from an event any
person who is unable to conform to these standards or whose behavior is
determined by the event organizers or the Executive Committee to be
offensive, dangerous, or disruptive to the enjoyment of the event by other
participants. If a person is required to leave an event for any of these
reasons, no refund of registration or other fees will be made. Repeated
offenses, or individual blatant and deliberate offenses, may result in a ban
from future Branch events at the discretion of the Executive Committee.

Massachusetts law prohibits the consumption of alcohol by anyone under
age 21 and imposes severe penalties for supplying alcoholic beverages to
such a person. It is the stated policy of the Boston Branch to ensure that
participants in the events it sponsors comply with Massachusetts law.
Participants in Branch events who consume alcohol in violation of
Massachusetts law may be denied participation in the event or in future
events. Anyone over age 21 who supplies alcohol to or otherwise enables its
consumption by participants in Branch events who are under 21 violates
Branch policy and, as a consequence, may be denied participation in Branch
    events.

  • Refund Policy

    Before June 20

If you withdraw for any reason before June 20, we will refund your attendance fee, minus your registration deposit. Deposits are only refundable if you are forced to cancel for reasons outside your control, like a medical issue or family emergency — drop us a note if you’re unsure.

If you paid by credit card, we will refund your credit card processing fee if we can process the refund within 60 days of your payment. Otherwise, we will send your refund by check minus the processing fee.

    After June 20

We send billable attendance numbers to Pinewoods Camp on June 20. After that, we will only refund your attendance fee (minus your deposit) if we can fill your spot with someone from the waitlist. If we can’t admit a replacement, we cannot issue a refund after June 20. Please contact us if you’d like to know whether we have a waitlist.

    Waitlisted registrants

If you are waitlisted and then not admitted from the waitlist, or if you withdraw from the waitlist before being admitted, your deposit will be refunded in full.

    COVID exemptions for 2025

We will offer a full refund (including deposit) at any time before your arrival at camp if:

    1) you exhibit COVID symptoms or a positive test within ten days before the start of your session or
    2) if you learn your attendance might imperil someone in a high-risk category.

If sessions are canceled outright, all campers will receive a full refund. Anyone who must leave camp due to symptoms or a positive test will receive a prorated refund based on the days they were able to attend.

We will keep you posted about any changes to camp COVID policy due to changing circumstances. If you decide to withdraw prior to June 20 because the final policy is insufficiently safe or too restrictive for you, we will refund your payment (including deposit).

If you have last-minute concerns or anxiety about safety that prevent you from attending, let us know as soon as you can and we’ll consider an exemption to the standard refund policy.
