Mandatory Requirements of Participation (ROP) Training Genesis HealthCare and Powerback Rehabilitation
On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, CMS released a final rule entitled Medicare and Medicaid Programs; Reform of Requirements for Long-Term Care Facilities. It reaffirms some existing requirements, such and existing resident rights, and finalized a wide range of new requirements, from comprehensive person-centered care planning to compliance and ethics for all centers that treat Medicare/Medicaid recipients. The requirements are reorganized, updated, and consistent with current health and safety expectations. Phase 3 (Part 2) of these requirements is effective on October 24, 2022, and requires an effective training program for all staff, including individuals under contractual arrangement. The specific requirement is for staff to receive training on (at a minimum): effective communication, resident rights and facility responsibilities, abuse, neglect and exploitation, QAPI, infection control, compliance and ethics, behavioral health, trauma informed care & cultural competence, restraints, and dementia.
To comply with the requirements, Genesis affiliated centers have training modules available to all agency staff. The courses are available on the CareerStaff website and required annually.
Each Staffing Vendor is responsible for Registry Personnel to complete these courses and the below attestation form prior to working at any Genesis HealthCare facility. This document is to be kept on file readily accessible to be produced upon request. Each Staffing Vendor must upload a new GHC compliance attestation form to their electronic platform profile annually.
