  • 1. The NAECTE/Taylor & Francis Outstanding Early Childhood Teacher Educator Award

    Must be a current member of NAECTE. Must be nominated by an NAECTE member. Nomination materials should clearly demonstrate the nominee’s: 

    Leadership, as evidenced by providing direction, energy, organization, and efforts aimed at improving early childhood teacher education;  
    Professionalism, as demonstrated through advocacy, expertise, and high ethical standards; 
    Self-Reflection Practices, through the conscious commitment to the profession and to her/his own professional development;  
    Mentoring, by modeling dimensions of teaching that nurture the professional development of students, beginning teachers and faculty, and colleagues 

    As an incentive and recognition, the honorarium accompanying this award is $1000, given by our sponsor at the awards ceremony.

  • 2. The Gryphon House/NAECTE Foundation Early Childhood Practitioner Award

    Must currently be in a practitioner position in the field. Must be nominated by a NAECTE member.  As an incentive and recognition, the honorarium accompanying this award is $1000 and given by our sponsor at the awards ceremony. 

    Materials included in the electronic submission: 

    • Two Letters of Support 
    • Vita/Resumé
    • A 1-minute narrated classroom video (tour of the classroom/early childhood setting; no people should be included in the video)

      Portfolio Items (items are all be uploaded in a single package):
      • A 1-page philosophy of education statement 
      • A 1-page innovative/creative initiatives description developed to include family, school, and community to support student learning and family engagement,
      • A 1-page description of instructional approaches (or mentoring/leadership approaches if not an educator working with children directly),
      • A 1-page document answering the following prompts:
        • One thing that excites the nominee about ECE
        • One way the nominee has made an impact on ECE (can be through school, community, or broader impact)
        • What the nominee envisions for the future of ECE

  • 3. NAECTE/Gryphon House Learning Outstanding Dissertation Award

    The dissertation must have been completed between May of the previous year and the deadline of nominations (e.g.: May 1, 2023-July 15, 2024). As an incentive and recognition, the honorarium accompanying this award is $750 and given by our sponsor at the awards ceremony.

  • 4. NAECTE/Taylor & Francis Student Travel Grants

    Must be a graduate student and traveling to the conference. $500 honorarium is given at the awards ceremony. (No extra information is needed for this award beyond the nominee and nominator's information you've provided above near top of the form starting at "Nominee's Name".)

  • 5. NAECTE Foundation Advocacy Award

    NAECTE Foundation Advocacy Award - One of the goals of the NAECTE Foundation is advocacy of NAECTE goals. For that reason, it has created the NAECTE Foundation Advocacy Award to recognize members who have demonstrated their effectiveness as advocates for programs and/or policies that support quality programming for young children. This award comes with a $500 honorarium. 

    Materials included in the electronic submission:

    • Nominee’s vita. Label the file with nominee’s last name_vita (e.g., Jones_vita) 
    • 2 Letter(s) of nomination.

  • 6. NAECTE Foundation Early Career Grant for Research on Early Childhood Teacher Education

    The Early Career Research Grant is designated for non-tenured, full-time faculty with up to and including 6 years of experience in a full-time faculty position. The award amount is $2000. 

    Materials included in the electronic submission: 

    • The principal investigator’s curriculum vitae
    • The title page that indicates that this is an application for the Early Career Research Grant including:
      • the title of the proposal,
      • the researcher’s name, affiliation, and complete contact information including email address and telephone number.
      • The names, emails, and affiliations of other members of the research team, if applicable.
      • This should be the only place where the applicant’s identifying information appears.
    • The research proposal (maximum 4 pages double spaced) that includes: the research question(s) and focus, the rationale for the research, research methods, a description of how this research is anticipated to increase the knowledge base of early childhood teacher education, and a statement describing how this funding would contribute to the applicant’s ability to achieve the project’s goals. 
    • A detailed budget showing how these NAECTEF funds would be used to support the project.

  • 7. NAECTE Foundation Established Career Grant for Research on Early Childhood Teacher Education

    The Established Career Research Grant is designated for a member who serves in a full-time, TT faculty position. The grant amount is $2000. 

    Materials included in the electronic submission:

    • The principal investigator’s curriculum vitae
    • The title page that indicates that this is an application for the Early Childhood Teacher Educator Research Grant including:
      • the title of the proposal,
      • the researcher’s name, affiliation, and complete contact information including email address and telephone number.
      • The names, emails, and affiliations of other members of the research team, if applicable.
      • This should be the only place where the applicant’s identifying information appears. 
    • The research proposal (maximum 4 pages double spaced) that includes: the research question(s) and focus, the rationale for the research, research methods, a description of how this research is anticipated to increase the knowledge base of early childhood teacher education, and a statement describing how this funding would contribute to the applicant’s ability to achieve the project’s goals.
    • A detailed budget showing how these NAECTEF funds would be used to support the project. The Principal Investigator is to 1) submit a written progress report to the NAECTEF President by November 1st of each year until the research is complete, and 2) to notify the NAECTEF President of the particulars of presentations and publications based on research supported by this NAECTEF award.

    The Foundation invites doctoral students who are pursuing dissertation research that addresses critical issues and/or innovative practices related to early childhood teacher education or early childhood professional development, to apply for this scholarship. The grant amount is $1000. 

    Materials included in the electronic submission:

    • a curricular vita or resume,
    • title page with the title of the prospectus, the student’s name, affiliation, email, phone; the advisor's name, affiliation, email, phone
    • a budget detailing the use of the funds for data collection,
    • a four-page, approved prospectus that includes: the research questions(s) and focus, the rationale for the research, methods of research, how this research addresses issues and innovations in early childhood teacher education or early childhood professional development, and a projected timeline,
    • an indication as to whether the study will be presented at an NAECTE conference or submitted to JECTE for publication, and
    • one brief statement of endorsement from a doctoral committee chair or member who is an early childhood teacher educator or a child development or family life professor.
