Legal Associate
The AHTU(Anti Human Trafficking Unit) PMU @ Women Safety Wing is being set up in collaboration with the Association for Voluntary Action (AVA). Established in 1979, Association for Voluntary Action (AVA) is committed to protecting the rights and dignity of vulnerable children across India. As a core member of the Just Rights for Children (JRC) Alliance, which is the country’s largest network of over 250 civil society organisations spanning 28 states and 434 districts, AVA plays a critical role in preventing and responding to crimes against children. These positions, while operating out of WSW premises, are fully funded by and on the roles of AVA, with no direct employment relationship with the Women Safety Wing.
The AHTU PMU shall rely on the functional Legal Process Backoffice working out of AVA.The Legal Associate working at WSW shall be the single point of contact to liaise with AVA legal back office and help make available the following on a need basis:
1. Prepare a minimum set of researched information for PPs, IOs etc. for cases pertaining to select sections of law.
2. Submit legal opinions on an on-demand basis to IOs, PPs and such other Stakeholders.
3. Prepare Legal Information Kit for victims and update the same on a continuous basis.
4. Other requirements as and when they arise.
Towards rendering services, the Backoffice shall liaise with Legal Experts, Prosecutions Team and such other stakeholders as required to ensure correctness of opinions rendered. It may be noted that this is a back office and does not require or envisage any physical or virtual court presence as a rule. Only qualified legal professionals who are ok with this arrangement need apply.

Experience
|
Proven legal research experience along with exposure of court procedures pertaining to criminal law. Experience in dealing with cases pertaining to Rape, POCSO, Trafficking and related matters will be a definite advantage.
· Experience in handling litigation matters across District and High Court and Tribunals.
· Drafting and reviewing of Complaints, Writs, Appeals, Contracts and Agreements.
· Knowledge of substantive and procedural laws required for Litigation in Criminal Cases.
· Research and drafting of legal opinions.
Applicants with experience in corporate law, cyber law etc., shall not be considered for the current position.

Skill Sets

1. Strong analytical ability, logical and problem-solving approach on complex issues.
2. Fluent in reading & writing Telugu &English language.
3. Keyboard Proficiency- 40WPM 100% accuracy on laptop. [Since all opinions have to be prepared in electronic form personally, keyboard proficiency is important for this position]

Compensation
|
The gross remuneration shall be ₹40 thousand per month.

Initial Tenure
|
The tenure of the engagement is co-terminus with the project. The initial employment will be for 1 year. Annual performance appraisals will determine continuity of service, year on year.
