Covenant Membership Commitments
Covenant Membership at First Belton is actively contributing to help all generations know and follow Jesus. As a member of this multi-generational family, you are asked to agree and participate in the following ways.
Profess Christ as Lord and Be Baptized by Immersion
Covenant members of First Belton are redeemed believers in Jesus Christ and profess Him as Lord. Salvation is in Christ alone and can be found in no one else. Each covenant member is also baptized by immersion. Baptism by immersion is a biblical and joyful step of obedience that one consciously takes after professing faith in Jesus Christ. Covenant Members at First Belton have put their faith and trust in Christ alone for their salvation and have been baptized by immersion.
Abide In Christ Daily
Covenant members of First Belton desire to grow in their walk with Jesus. We want to be a family that seeks God every day through Scripture reading, prayer, and other spiritual disciplines. Living a spiritually disciplined life is a priority because it helps you grow in intimacy with God and conforms you to the image of Jesus. Covenant Members at First Belton abide in Christ daily by growing in the spiritual disciplines.
Obey Christ and Pursue Holiness
Covenant members of First Belton surrender to the Scriptures, submit to the authority of the Holy Spirit, and repent when we fail. Together, we encourage and challenge one another to obey Jesus and worship Him alone. Covenant Members at First Belton fight sin and live holy lives to the glory of God.
Participate in Biblical Community and Discipleship
Covenant members of First Belton gather in groups weekly for study and application of Scripture, fellowship, accountability, prayer, and service. We cannot be disciples of Christ outside the context of community with one another. Covenant Members at First Belton consistently engage in biblical community and discipleship with one another.
Engage in Regular Attendance
Covenant members of First Belton enjoy being together and loves one another. God created all people equal in value and dignity and yet, beautifully distinct. Together, we embrace these differences as we seek to love and serve one another and worship together routinely. Covenant Members at First Belton regularly attend worship services and Bible study because we genuinely care for one another and want to be familiar with the faces, names, and stories of each other.
Help Build Unity
Covenant members of First Belton are for one another. To carry out the mission of Christ in our church together, we want to refrain from things that divide and weakens the unity of the Spirit. We will have disagreements and misunderstandings, but we will submit to others in love and be diligent to preserve unity and peace. Covenant Members of First Belton protect unity in the church.
Encourage Others by Serving
Covenant members of First Belton faithfully serves. God says that without your participation, the body of Christ suffers. When we serve the body with our time and talents, we demonstrate that others are more important than ourselves. Covenant Members at First Belton agree to joyously serve others in the church.
Support the Vision and Mission of First Baptist Belton by Generously and Sacrificially Giving
Covenant members of First Belton give to support one another and for the advancement of the gospel. Investing in the mission of this church helps us make gospel impact locally and around the world. Covenant Members at First Belton practice radical generosity with our finances for the advancement of the gospel in the church, community, and world.
Declare the Gospel to Those Who Don't Know and Follow Jesus
Covenant members of First Belton proclaim the gospel from our doorstep to the ends of the earth. Each of us is responsible to reach out in our spheres of influence and spend time declaring and demonstrating the gospel to those around us. Covenant Members at First Belton share the good news of Jesus.
Pray for Local, National, and International Partners
Covenant members of First Belton help partners through prayer and financial support. When covenant members support, advocate, and pray, they are directly participating with the mission of reaching the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Covenant Members at First Belton support the work of our domestic and international partners.
Adhere to First Baptist Belton's Statement of Beliefs
Covenant members of First Belton align with our statement of beliefs. Our statement of beliefs is a foundational guide for what we believe as a body of believers. Covenant Members of First Belton follow our statements of faith that we believe represent the essential teachings of the Scriptures.
Submit to the Care and Direction of the Leadership
Covenant members of First Belton submit to biblical church leadership. We recognize that all leadership in the church flows from the authority of Christ as the head of the church. First Belton is overseen by elders and pastors who serve as spiritual leaders. Each of them meets the criteria assigned to them in the Scriptures, shepherd the flock of God, help carry out the vision of First Belton and equip the saints for the work of ministry. Covenant Members of First Belton submit to the care and direction of biblical leadership.
