South County Habitat for Humanity is partnering with Lisa Hollister who is the Program Manager at URI's Onsite Wastewater Resource Center. This one-hour course describes septic system basics for homeowners.
The following topics will be covered:
- This workshop will describe how a basic septic system works - both conventional and advanced onsite wastewater treatment technologies.
- Tips and best practices for maintaining system performance.
- Frequently asked questions about septic systems.
- The importance of private drinking water including how to test your well and maintain it.

More about the Instructor:
Lisa Hollister is the Program Manager at URI’s Onsite Wastewater Resource Center. Lisa completed her M.S. degree in Natural Resources Science at URI and has worked at the University of Rhode Island’s Cooperative Extension since 2011. Lisa’s current role as Research Associate and Program Manager with the Onsite Wastewater Resource Center includes community outreach programming to help end users understand onsite wastewater treatment systems function and performance, program planning and participation in research efforts to document the performance of advanced wastewater technologies.
