This form is for the 2025/2026 school year. You will have the option to pay in the form, or to send a check within 10 days of registration. Early Registration ends June 1. After that, Regular Registration tuition prices are valid. On or after the second class session, a Late Fee of $25 is added to the tuition.

Regional Events Survey

Help us plan successful events to bring together our school community from across the region!
Schulfest all-school barbeque

In the past, we have held a mandatory PTA meeting in the Fall, but this is no longer required by our new by-laws. Instead, we will be holding a new event in the Fall, inviting students and families from both locations to attend a barbeque to celebrate the start of the school year.

A school update will be presented by the Board of Trustees at this event, with the opportunity to ask questions. This school kickoff barbeque will be held at a central location on a weekend shortly after the start of classes. More information will be sent out as it becomes available, and we hope to see you there!

TopGolf Spring Fundraiser Event

Keeping in mind that tuition does not cover all of the costs of our German classes, we hold multiple fundraisers throughout the year. We are exploring the possibility of holding a new, fun school-wide event in the Springtime at TopGolf in Independence, Ohio, because the location is equidistant from both extremes of our East and West side students. The tickets would be sold at a self-selected markup to help raise funds for the school according to each family's inclination, and in the meantime, we would have another opportunity to gather members of our community from both school locations!

Textbooks
Many classes carry the textbook over from one year to the next, but for those classes which require a new textbook, you may either purchase your books yourself (links are available on the website here: https://www.germanschoolcle.org/books/ ), or join a group order through school, which will be placed when school begins in the Fall, once we know how many students need which books. Payment for those joining the group order will be due on the first day of school. Depending on prevailing source pricing, we expect a set of books for children to cost approximately $50. The books should arrive by the third day of school, and students without books can work off copies until then.

T-Shirt Order

To avoid stocking too many or too few of particular t-shirt sizes, we will place a bulk order of our school t-shirts based on the number needed by our students and their families. This is due to the rising cost of t-shirts. The price will be $25 per t-shirt. An email will be sent to all enrolled students in April 2025 with a link to an order form. The t-shirts will be distributed in the Fall, once available.

Volunteer Option

With the first child registration, the nonparticipation fee is calculated as part of your registration. For those who complete the volunteer requirement, a refund will be issued at the end of the school year or you can opt to donate the fee to the classroom technology fund.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter as we strive to have enough staff for our events to run smoothly.

There are a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the school year, and the Engagement Coordinator will reach out to families as they come up.

Below are a few examples of volunteer needs we usually have.

Events and Programs

St Martintag: Held near November 11. Jobs may include helping make lanterns, providing candy, baking/selling Weckmänner.

Christkindlmarkt: Held after Thanksgiving (before December 6) in Olmsted Falls, mid-December in Novelty. Jobs may include raffle sales, prize table, help selling crafts, food/beverage, set up, take down, baking/Lebkuchenherzen, taking photos, dressing as Santa Claus and/or Nikolaus, activity table.

Partner Christmas markets: Held in early December, in partnership with the Amherst Historical Society and the Deutsche Zentrale. Jobs may include help collecting entrance tickets, help selling crafts or food/beverage, set up, take down, etc.

DGACC or EOUV Christmas program/Krippenspiel: Held on a Sunday before Christmas. Jobs may include set ups, take down, costume help.

Read-a-thon Fundraiser: in the late winter. Jobs may include tallying hours, awarding prizes, keeping track of winners.

Karnevalsfeier: Held just before Ash Wednesday (February or March). Jobs may include raffle sales, prize table, games, food/beverage, set up, take down.
Fish Fry with DGACC: held Fridays during Lent (February and/or March and/or April). Jobs may include serving, clean up, set up, take down, washing, cooking.

Pop-Up Shop: Before and after school sales of various cultural items, which can vary from year to year, but can include: Schultüten (first day of school), Advent calendars (November), Weihnachtspost/Letters to Santa kit (Nov/Dec)

Distributing flyers: Job may include bringing promotional flyers (for events or school registration) to local businesses, libraries, restaurants, churches, etc. to display on bulletin boards.

Crafts (Olmsted Falls): in the fall, 30 minutes before classes begin. Jobs may include: set up, instructing, helping, providing materials (many will be provided), take down.

Games (Olmsted Falls): In the winter, 30 minutes before classes begin. Jobs may include: set up, teaching the game, playing the game, clean up.

Raffle Roller: This can be done at home throughout the year, to have ready for events. Job may include: cutting straws, rolling winning and losing papers, inserting them into the straws.

Library (Olmsted Falls): Help in the school library during the school hours and days. Jobs may include: set up, take down, checking in books, checking out books, shelving books, making book recommendations.

Registration Policies
Your registration will not be finalized until the school receives both the registration information and the registration fee.

Books are not included in your tuition. Book purchase options will be communicated closer to the start of school.

Returning Students: We grant preference to classroom space for returning students who register by June 1.

Beginner students without previous knowledge of German will only be accepted until the 3rd day of class. Advanced level students, both children and adults, may join a class at a later time at the discretion of the school administration.

Class Size: The administration reserves the right to combine classes based on overall enrollment and teacher availability.

Class Delivery: In the event of inclement weather and/or government mandates, classes may be offered online via Zoom or other electronic means.

Tuition (minus the $50 non-refundable registration fee per student) will be refunded as follows:
- Before August 15: Full tuition
- Before 3rd day of school: 75% refund
- After 3rd day of school: No refund
Late fees and the registration fee are non-refundable.
Late-Pickup Policy
Purpose: In order to respect the hours of operation of our School, the following policy has been put in place. Policy: Our classes finish at 8:30 pm on Mondays in Novelty, and at 9:00 pm on Wednesdays in Olmsted Falls.

All children are expected to be picked up by a parent or authorized guardian promptly by the scheduled end time.

Late-Pickup Policy Fee: After the 10-minute mark, a $1.00 per minute late fee is charged.

A "no exceptions" policy makes it easier to apply the late policy to everyone fairly. Procedure: If a parent/guardian has not picked up a child within 10 minutes of the scheduled end time, and we are not able to reach the parents/guardians, we will call Child Protective Services and/or the local Police Department.

If a parent/guardian arrives late to pick up a child, the teacher assigned to supervise the remaining child/children will complete a Late-Pickup Report, and the parent/guardian will be asked to sign it. Parents/Guardians will then be asked to pay the late-pickup policy fee to the German Language School Cleveland by check or cash immediately or the following week at the latest.

Consistent late pickups may lead to dismissal from our program.
