• Nomination for Honorary Fellowship or Honorary Membership 2025

  • Thank you for nominating someone for Honorary Fellowship or Honorary Membership of FPM.

    Nominations for Honorary awards can only be made by FPM Fellows who are in good standing, with subscription fees for the current year fully paid.

    The Fellowship and Awards Committee can ONLY use the information you submit here to make a decision, so please provide sufficient detail and provide examples wherever possible.

     

    To nominate an individual you will need:

    • a one page statement of support which details how the nominee fulfils the relevant criteria as outlined in the guidance notes, 
    • and the support of another FPM Fellow.

    Nomination criteria

    Honorary Fellows and Members need not be medically qualified. 

     

    Honorary Fellowship 

    On the recommendation of the Fellowship and Awards Committee, the Board of Trustees, may bestow Honorary Fellowship on persons of eminence who may or may not be FPM members, and who have made exceptional contributions in the fields of research, teaching or the practice of pharmaceutical medicine, or medical or general science, or society.

     

    Honorary Membership 

    On the recommendation of the Fellowship and Awards Committee, the Board of Trustees may bestow Honorary Membership on persons who are not FPM members, and who have made significant contributions in the fields of research, teaching or the practice of pharmaceutical medicine, or medical or general science, or society. 

     

    Note

    Honorary Fellows and Members will not be eligible to vote or to stand for election to the Board of Trustees. Honorary awards are strictly limited.

  • Fellowship and Awards Committee

    The Fellowship and Awards Committee will use its discretion in the election of Honorary Fellows and Honorary Members with regards to the reputation and public perception of FPM. An individual will not be awarded Honorary Fellowship or Honorary Membership if they have any current conditions, undertakings or warnings attached to their medical or professional registration.

  • FPM Annual Awards Ceremony
    If your nominee is awarded Honorary Fellowship/Membership, both you and the nominee will be invited to attend our Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 2 July 2025 at the Merchant Taylors’ Hall, London.

    As proposer, you will asked to deliver a short citation for them. If you are not able to attend the ceremony, the Fellow supporting this nomination may present the citation on your behalf.

    If the nominee is successful, we will need to let them know.

  • Supporting signatures

    Your nomination must have the support of another FPM Fellow.  

  • Consent for your name to appear on FPM webpages and social media

  • If successful, we would like to celebrate your nominee's acheivements by listing them on our website's Awards pages and/or as a news item (see this page for an example). 

    We may also post a mesage on our social media pages or in an email to FPM members (e.g. LinkedIn)

    We will ask for their permission first, and if they say "yes" we would like to use your name and nomination text for this.

  • The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FPM) processes the information provided in connection with your nomination following the principles of the Data Protection Act 2018. The information you provide in this nomination will be shared with members of FPM's Fellowship and Awards Committee. Any other sharing of information will only take place with your consent or if FPM has a lawful basis to do so. 

  • Submitting your nomination

    Thank you for nominating an Honorary Fellow/Member of FPM. You will receive a pdf copy of this nomination by email when you submit it.

    You must:

    1 - Send the copy of your nomination to your supporting Fellow, they need to see it before they can confirm thier support for your nomination. 

    2 - Ask your supporting Fellow to complete the Supporting Honorary Nomination form.
