• Nomination for Membership by Distinction 2025

  • Thank you for your nomination for Membership by Distinction of FPM.

    Nominations for these awards can only be made by FPM Fellows who are in good standing, with subscription fees for the current year fully paid. 

    Members by Distinction have the same rights, privileges and obligations as Members and are required to pay an annual membership subscription. They must agree to being nominated and you must include a letter of assent from the individual you are nominating.

    The Fellowship and Awards Committee can ONLY use the information you submit here to make a decision so please provide sufficient detail and provide examples wherever possible. 

    To nominate an individual you will need:

    • a one page statement of support. This should detail how the nominee fulfils the relevant criteria as outlined in the guidance notes,
    • the support of another FPM Fellow,
    • the nominee to supply you with a signed letter of consent,
    • the nominee to supply you with an up to date CV.

  • Eligibility criteria 

    On the recommendation of the Fellowship and Awards Committee, the Board of  Trustees may bestow Membership by Distinction on pharmaceutical physicians who have made a significant contribution in the fields of research, teaching or the practice of pharmaceutical medicine.

    This is an exceptional route to Membership for medics who have made a significant contribution beyond the normal day-to-day practice of pharmaceutical medicine. 

    In your statement of support please provide details of how the nominee fulfils the criteria above, providing examples wherever possible.

    These awards are limited and reserved for exceptional physicians and may not be made every year. 

    Nominees must agree to being nominated

    The following text can be used in the letter of assent:

    "I agree to being nominated as a Member by Distinction of FPM, and understand that I will have to pay membership fees if elected."

    Important: Prescribed connection

    Membership of FPM may create a prescribed connection for revalidation for doctors who hold a UK licence to practise. If the nominee has a UK licence to practise and has no other current legal prescribed connection, Membership now creates a legal connection and the nominee should therefore connect to FPM via your GMC Online account immediately. If you are uncertain about any aspect of a prescribed connection please contact the Revalidation team at revalidation@fpm.org.uk.

  • Fellowship and Awards Committee

    The Fellowship and Awards Committee will use its discretion in the election of Members by Distinction with regards to the reputation and public perception of FPM. An individual will not be awarded Membership by Distinction if they have any current conditions, undertakings or warnings attached to their medical or professional registration.

    If your nominee is awarded Membership by Dinstinction, both you and the nominee will be invited to attend our Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 2 July 2025 at the Merchant Taylors’ Hall, London.

    If the nominee is successful, we will need to let them know.

  • The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FPM) processes the information provided in connection with your nomination following the principles of the Data Protection Act 2018. The information you provide in this nomination will be shared with members of FPM's Fellowship and Awards Committee. Any other sharing of information will only take place with your consent or if FPM has a lawful basis to do so.

    Your nomination must also have the support of another FPM Fellow.

    After submitting this form you must:

    1 - Send the copy of your nomination to your supporting Fellow, they need to see it before they can confirm thier support for your nomination. 

    2 - Ask your supporting Fellow to complete the Supporting Membership by Distinction Nomination form.

  • Thank you for submitting a nomination for Membership by Distinction of FPM. You will receive a pdf copy of this nomination by email when you submit it.

    You must:

    1 - Send the copy of your nomination to your supporting Fellow, they need to see it before they can confirm thier support for your nomination. 

    2 - Ask your supporting Fellow to complete the Supporting Membership by Distinction Nomination form.

  • Nominations will be reviewed by the Trustees and the Fellowship and Awards Committee in May 2025. 

    If your nomination is successful we will inform you, your seconder and your nominee by email no later than 22 May 2025.
