  • Musical Background

  • Faculty Preferences

  • Participants collaborate closely with faculty members in small bands that rehearse throughout the week in preparation for public performances. Participants will be assigned to three bands over the course of GMW, each led by a different faculty member. This is an intensive music experience, allowing participants to dive deep into a few chosen cultures and styles with the close guidance of faculty band leaders. 

  • Lodging & Meal Preferences

  • Tuition: Free for participants!

    For GMW 2025, Silkroad will provide financial assistance to all 70 participants by covering their tuition.

    Fees for GMW 2025:

    We strongly recommend living on-campus, as this promotes community among GMW participants. Late night jam sessions will also take place at the residence hall.

    Meals & Administration Fee: $640

    Covers dinner on August 9, plus three meals per day for August 10 through 16, and breakfast on August 17. By selecting this option, you agree to make your own lodging arrangements off-campus.

    Single Occupancy Lodging & Meals (optional): $1,475

    Including the meal plan above, this also covers eight nights at the New England Conservatory's state-of-the-art residence hall, checking in on August 9 and checking out on August 16, 2025. Bed linens and one pillow will be provided. Rooms are single occupancy with shared bathrooms on each floor.

    Double Occupancy Lodging & Meals (optional): $1,300 

    Including the meal plan above, this also covers eight nights at the New England Conservatory's state-of-the-art residence hall, checking in on August 9 and checking out on August 16, 2025. Bed linens and pillows will be provided. Rooms are double occupancy with shared bathrooms on each floor.

     

  • Silkroad will send a confirmation email and payment form to participants that are accepted into the program. Payment will be due by June 1, 2025.

  • Participant Media Release

  • I hereby grant permission to allow Silkroad and its designees to use images of my participation in Silkroad’s Global Musician Workshop (GMW) 2025 in any and all media (e.g., print, photo, film, video, broadcast, recordings, Internet), in perpetuity, should I be accepted to the program. I understand that the images may be edited, copied, exhibited, published, or distributed, and waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product wherein their likeness appears. Additionally, I waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of their image or recording.


    I understand that Silkroad may share the resulting media, in full or in part, for non-commercial, promotional, and fundraising purposes, and that Silkroad is released from any responsibility of securing any necessary permissions, rights, and credits needed for any works or materials used or created during the Event unless otherwise previously stated.


    This release applies to photographic, audio, or video recordings collected as part of Silkroad’s Global Musician Workshop only. There is no time limit on the validity of this release nor is there any geographic limitation on where these materials may be distributed.

  • Participant Liability Release

  • If accepted, I consent to my participation in Silkroad's Global Musician Workshop (GMW) 2025 taking place at New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, Massachusetts, and affirm that my participation is entirely voluntary and not required. In consideration for my participation in GMW 2025, and all other benefits to me arising therefrom, I hereby waive, release, and forever discharge Silk Road Project and its employees, trustees, volunteers, insurers, representatives, agents, successors, and assigns and New England Conservatory (with an address of 290 Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02115) and its employees, trustees, volunteers, insurers, representatives, agents, successors, and assigns (collectively, “Releasees”) from any and all claims, actions, liabilities, losses, damages, costs and attorney’s fees arising from any property damage, accident, illness (including, without limitation infection with the 2019 novel coronavirus known as COVID-19 and its variants), or other injury (including death) that I may suffer as a result of my participation in GMW 2025, to the fullest extent permitted by law. I acknowledge and appreciate the dangers, hazards, and risks of participation, attest to have fully considered the risks and hazards, and agree to assume the risks involved.

    I understand that Releasees do not have medical personnel available at GMW 2025. I understand and agree that Releasees are granted permission to transport me and to authorize emergency medical treatment, if deemed necessary by Releasees. I understand and agree that Releasees assume no responsibility for any injury or damage which might arise out of, or in connection with such authorized emergency medical treatment.

    This Release supersedes all prior and contemporaneous understandings, agreements, representations, and warranties, both written and oral, with respect to the subject matter of the Release. If any term or provision of this Release is invalid, illegal, or unenforceable in any jurisdiction, such invalidity, illegality, or unenforceability shall not affect any other term or provision of this Release or invalidate or render unenforceable such term or provision in any other jurisdiction. This Release is binding on and shall inure to the benefit of GMW 2025 and me and our respective successors and assigns.
