Below are the various volunteer positions that need to be filled. Half day shifts might be available, dependent on how many volunteers we have. Please read through them and answer the questions that follow.
Gift Shop: (at least 16 yrs old): start at 8:30, set up gift shop (t-shirts, mugs, and other miscellany), sell merchandise, break down display at the end of the day. Some cash handling or retail experience is preferred, but not necessary. As of 2019 we did start using a digital credit card system so some comfort with technology is necessary. Can be performed mostly sitting down, but during set up/breakdown, helping customers, there's some standing, walking, lifting. 1 to 2 people needed per day, prefer availability all 5 weekends.
Ticket Collection: Be in position at the front gate by 9:30. Use technology to scan tickets of persons entering the Faire. You'll need to have an eye out for people who have come in without their weapons peace tied and be prepared to answer questions through out the day since we do not have any specific location for Information. 4 people needed per day
ID Checking: (at least 18 yrs old): Start at 9:30, wristband adults who want to drink alcohol, peace tie weapons that are not secured with a Zip tie. Can not be done sitting down. While we need several people here during the morning and early afternoon, by late afternoon this can be covered by one person at a time, and finished by 5pm. 4 people needed per day
Early Morning Parking: Start at 7:30, done by 10:00. Guide merchants, entertainers and cast to specific participant parking areas. 1-2 people needed per day. Once done you can assist the parking crew, Green knights, or first aid. please note your preference in the comments at the end. Preference given to someone available all 5 weekends.
Stage Maintence: Start at 9, done once sound equipment is put away at the end of the day, usually by 6:30. Ensure that sound equipment has been delivered to stages and set up where needed, monitor stages, assist entertainers, manage back stage areas, provide back up in green rooms. Training on sound equipment (systems are very basic) is provided. This person will also be under the direction of and report to the entertainment coordinator and production director when necessary. 1-2 people needed per day. Preference given to people available all 5 weekends.
Green Room Caretaker: Start around 9. This is someone who will need to be able to move around and work independently of others. The green room caretaker will be in charge of making sure the green rooms are stocked with pickles, water, ice, etc as needed for the performers and stage acts. At the end of the day they will check what needs to be restocked for the next day/weekend and make sure a list of items is noted to the appropriate person. Should wear sturdy close toed shoes for walking and be able to lift and carry a 5 gallon water jug where needed. 1 person needed per day. Preference given to someone available all 5 weekends.
Site crew (Green Knights): usually start about 9am, sometimes earlier, will get trash bags in the barrels, put up shade cloths, handle minor repairs/errands. Sometimes will work on projects during the day, if not working on a project Green Knights walk around and replenish water or supplies, pick up trash barrels that are full until 5pm, at this point they go around site and pick up trash, take down shade cloths. Done by 5:30/6pm at the latest. No need for a costume, we provide you with a t-shirt and baseball cap so that you're visible. Wear comfortable pants or shorts that you don't mind getting dirty and sturdy closed toe shoes, there will be a lot of walking. there is plenty of space for people wishing to help with site maintenance
Safety (Green Knights): We have room for law enforcement personnel, although they often help out with the site crew as well(see the site crew description). We provide you with a t-shirt and baseball cap so that you're visible. there is plenty of space for people to help with safety. we do request you have some sort of training in security and public safety to be considered safety persons.
First Aid: if you have medical, nursing, EMT experience, and/or first aid certifications, we can use you in first aid. Usually start about 8:30, provide first aid and medical assistance to patrons, cast and crew. Also set up and maintain first aid locations. Depending on the size of the first aid team for the day you may be stationed at a specific location or will be taking turns patrolling the site. You are usually done for the day once the site is cleared out, about 5:30pm, though if you are able to stay until the site crew is done with trash that would be appreciated. We provide you with a vest so that you're visible. Wear comfortable clothes (Khakis and a plain shirt are preferred) and close toed shoes. We need 4 to 8 people per day.
