Parade Rules and Safety Measures
Please note, by submitting your application you agree to abide by the following Parade Rules and Safety Measures:
1. The parade organizers must comply with all CCC Health Dept regulations, so we will provide updates on any other health requirements by June 15th. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding!!
2. Staging Area Rules: The staging area for the parade is in the BART parking lot on the East Side of Camino Pablo. All participants are asked to arrive for assembly starting at 8:00 AM. All participants must be in the lot with their groups by 9:15 AM - as we will start lining up to start the parade by 9:30 AM. Numbered parking spots will be assigned to your group. Your group must wait in the designated spot until you are told to proceed by a FOJ Committee representative. Only the parade vehicle may park in the parade staging area. Other vehicles must park on the West Side of the BART lot or wherever parking is available. The parade begins promptly at 10:00 AM. The group captain, designated above, is responsible for ensuring the entire group knows these and complies with these Parade Rules and Safety Measures.
3. Parade Route: the parade will proceed through the Crossroads business district, back down Camino Pablo under Highway 24, right on Santa Maria Way, then left on Orinda Way past the reviewing stand in front of the Orinda Community Center. The parade will go past Camino Sobrante then disperse where directed. We will contact you by phone of your location in the parade.
4. For safety reasons, you are NOT permitted to throw items from your entry into the crowd, but you can hand out candy, etc from someone walking alongside your entry. All parade participants must follow the directions of the parade marshalls and organizers.
5. All entries must be able to keep up the pace of the parade, and stay within 30 feet of the entry in front of your entry. People on foot must be able to walk at a brisk place at ALL times in the parade. Your group is not allowed to stop and perform for the parade audience and must keep moving at all times in pace with the group in front of your group. Failure to comply with this rule will result in immediate exclusion from the parade.
6. Each group would like to be at the front of the parade. Every effort is made to place participants in spots they prefer and rotate parade position from year to year. Group size, vehicle type, etc. can also restrict placement in the parade. Remember we are there to have fun please do not get upset with parade volunteers or other participants. To insure the most desirable spot please volunteer to be on the parade committee next year!
7. AWARDS will be given for categories such as the following: best theme float, vehicle, musical group, group costumes and many more.
