    The Fern Burn Club is a Southern Vancouver Island fire spinning club and flow arts jam space. We are so grateful to call the Fernwood Community Center our home and our goal is to further community connections and skill developement in an effort to elevate Vancouver Island’s Fire Dancing Community.  In the winter we gather indoors to explore prop tech, and host juggling meetups, acro jams and peer-based training.

  • LIABILITY WAIVER & ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT

    For Participation in juggling, flow arts, handstands, and acro-yoga at Fernwood NRG Gymnasium
  • NOTICE: This waiver applies to all future participation in these activities and does not require re-signing for each event.

  • ASSUMPTION OF RISK

    I acknowledge that participation in juggling, flow arts (including staffs, poi, and other props), handstands, and acro-yoga involves risks, including but not limited to:

    Loss of balance, falls, and potential impact with the floor or other participants.
    Muscle strains, sprains, dislocations, fractures, or other physical injuries, up to 
    The risk of serious injury, paralysis, or death, particularly due to falls or impact, as there are no thick safety mats.

    The unpredictability of working with partners in acro-yoga, leading to accidental drops or falls.

    Contact with juggling and flow props, which may result in bruising, cuts, or other injuries.

    I confirm that I am voluntarily participating in these activities with full knowledge of these risks. I accept all responsibility for any injury, harm, or loss I may sustain.

  • WAIVER OF LIABILITY

    I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, hereby release, waive, and discharge:

    • Fernwood NRG (the owner/operator of the gymnasium),
    • The Kindle Arts Society, and any affiliated individuals or entities including but not limited to event organizers, instructors and volunteers


    from any claims, demands, actions, or causes of action related to any loss, injury, damage, or death that may occur while participating, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.

  • HEALTH & FITNESS DECLARATION
    I confirm that I am in good health and physically fit for the activities I choose to participate in. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to know my limits and participate at my own risk.

  • MEDIA RELEASE (Optional)
    I consent to the use of photographs or videos taken of me during these activities for promotional or educational purposes.

  • GUARDIAN CONSENT (For Participants Under 18)

    I, the undersigned legal guardian of the minor participant, acknowledge and accept the risks outlined above. I consent to their participation and waive any claims as outlined in this waiver.

  • CODE OF CONDUCT | A Reminder of Safe and Respectful Practices

    We aim to provide a safe and inclusive space for all members of the flow arts community. By practicing with us, you agree not to hold the club or community center responsible for any injuries.

    What We Expect:

    • Respect: Always speak respectfully, using non-violent communication. No bullying or negative talk about others
    • Privacy: Address personal matters directly with club leads, not in group chats.
    • Sobriety: Do not attend practice intoxicated. You are responsible for your own safety.
    • Collaboration: Help identify and reduce risks for individuals, audiences, and the group.
    • Consent: Always ask for consent before taking photos, sharing props, or entering personal space.
    • Leadership Accountability: Elect leaders and ensure they govern fairly and follow this code.
    • Media: Always ask performers before photographing or filming them, and respect their wishes regarding content use.
    • Consequences: Leadership may issue warnings, remove members from group chats, or suspend memberships (temporary or permanent) for violations. Leadership will handle issues on a case-by-case basis, and we may pause practices if these values are not respected.


      The club leadership reserves the right to issue warnings, forward this guide as a reminder of our values, remove aggressive and disrespectful club members from our group chat if necessary, and enforce 1 - 6 months, year-long and permanent membership bans.
