The London Neighbourhood Scholarship Trust (LNS)
Terms and Conditions 2025/26
1. All decisions are made by the LNS scholarship selection panel and are final. Any applications submitted after the published deadline will not be considered.
2. No applicant for the award should make any decisions regarding their enrolment, financial arrangements, accommodation or other matters that rely on the outcome of their application being successful.
3. Scholarships cannot be deferred to another academic year. They are valid for first year entry in 2025 only.
4. If an awardee decides to change programmes, the student will be entitled to keep the scholarship provided that the new course and mode of study meets the eligibility criteria. All changes must be approved by the LNS.
5. The scholarship will not be paid during repeat academic years, suspended periods, during a placement year or study abroad year. If you experience serious academic difficulties (e.g. failing a module or suspension) you must inform the LNS immediately.
6. If an awardee decides to withdraw from the course, the scholarship will terminate at the date of withdrawal. Any payments made to the student will not need to be returned.
7. The scholarship funds are intended to provide a contribution towards transport and course costs. The funds are not to be used for accommodation costs or payment of university fees for which student loans from Student Finance England are available.
8. Payments will be made in instalments to the award recipient at the start of every term via BACS into the scholar’s bank account.
9. Award recipients are expected to attend all timetabled classes and tutorials held on their course. The only exception to this is periods of absence due to illness and extenuating circumstances. Any student with a poor attendance record on their course may risk their award being terminated.
10. Award recipients may be required to be available at reasonable notice for publicity and marketing campaigns which the LNS may want to run in connection with the scholarship. These may include but not be limited to public appearances, speeches, photographs, interviews and social media posts.
11. Award recipients are expected to meet with an allocated LNS mentor at least once per term.
12. Award recipients are expected to remain living in London for the duration of their course.
13. The LNS Trust reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions. Should the terms and conditions not be met, termination of any scholarship or award is at the discretion of the Trustees.
