    The GIT is a transformational change agent in the psychotherapeutic community and society. As such we hold an ethical responsibility to challenge systems that continue to perpetuate inequality and address some of its root causes. It is our collective responsibility to include diverse voices in our training program. In this way we are committed to creating a scholarship fund dedicated to the two communities who have minimal representation at our school.


    One Scholarship will be awarded to a self-identified Indigenous student and a second scholarship to a self-identified Black student entering Year One of The Five Year Training Program in Gestalt Psychotherapy. Awards will cover 50% of the student’s tuition over the first two years of the program and will be assigned equally over the tuition installment due dates.

    In order for students to be eligible for this scholarship they must successfully complete the application process for entry into The Five Year Training Program in Gestalt Psychotherapy which includes:
    1.A completed application form

    2.A copy of your resume

    3.A letter of intent

    4.Three written letters of reference

    5.A copy of transcript of undergraduate degree (Bachelors degree in any field)

    6.Complete a personal interview with the Director of Training

    7.Receive an offer of acceptance.

    8.Formal confirmation of acceptance, Contract signed and deposit received.

    Be sure to include the following documents when applying:

    1) This application form

    2) Essay: Write an essay which details why you want to pursue Gestalt psychotherapy training. What made you decide tocontinue your education at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto? Note that essays should be typed, double-spaced on letter-sizedstationery, and no more than four pages long

    3) Acceptance letter from the GIT: Include a copy of your acceptance letter into The Five Year Training Program in Gestalt Psychotherapy.

    4) Confirmation of acceptance to GIT registrar: Please also ensure you have replied to the Registrar with your confirmation of acceptance, signed contract, and paid your deposit.

    Note: All documents and information must be sent by April 30, 2026 to be eligible. Incomplete application form and/or application package may result in ineligibility for this award.
