WOMEN EMPOWERMENT/ HWL BOOK CLUB

Promotes self-improvement; oversees mentoring, professional development award, retreats and workshops/conferences. Promotes literacy, education and engagement amongst members. HWL Book Club and Financial Wellness Series falls under this committee.

MEMBERSHIP

Certify membership, recruit new members, develop membership packets, orient new members, plan and arrange membership events, send notices to members. Collect membership and maintain accurate data. Partners with the Public Relations and Marketing committee. Partners with the Scholarship Committee and Fundraising Committee to help promote and increase sponsorship/donors.

FUNDRAISING

Implement activities as needed to raise funds for the Scholarship and Endowment Foundation. Partners with the Scholarship Committee to help promote and increase sponsorship/donors. Works with past winners to help raise money.

SCHOLARSHIP

Promotes HWL scholarship, develops relationships with colleges, participates in college fairs, reviews and awards scholarships to deserving Hispanic women enrolled in continuing education programs. Reaches out to past awardees to help keep awareness of past recipients’ success. Partners with the fundraising committee to help promote and increase sponsorship/donors.

PUBLIC RELATIONS/MARKETING

Enhances HWL's presence by managing digital communications and community engagement. Members create content for social media and web platforms, promote participation in local events (such as walkathons, health fairs, parades, community support rallies, etc.) and build community partnerships. Partners with the membership committee. They also maintain the website, track engagement metrics, and support rebranding initiatives.

DINNER/BRUNCH

Leads the Annual Scholarship Dinner and Community Awards event planning and coordination. Partners with Fundraising and Scholarship committees to secure dinner funding and ensure a successful event.

CIVIC WORK

Responsible for identifying and addressing certain needs of the Hispanic/Latinx community in Buffalo in the form of statements, advocacy, and collaboration with other community organizations and leaders. In addition, we aim to demonstrate the Hispanic Women's League's commitment to social justice, deepen our awareness of issues that affect our community locally and nationwide, and work with community leaders, stakeholders, and organizers to develop solutions or mitigate harm experienced in our communities.

BOARD DEVELOPMENT

Oversees parliamentary procedure and ensures proper conduct of meetings according to established rules of order. Manages all aspects of committee elections, including nominations, voting procedures, ballot counting, and results certification. Provides guidance on procedural matters and maintains documentation of election processes and outcomes.

SUNSHINE OFFICER

Cultivates and promotes meaningful connections and relationships among members by creating opportunities to build relationships, share experiences, and develop a supportive community within the organization.
