Eligibility Quiz
  • Eligibility Quiz

  • Is your organization an IRS-registered, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization with a non-private foundation status of 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2) or similar tax-exempt status?*
  • We are unable to award grants to organizations that are not tax-exempt 501(c)(3) or similar tax-exempt organizations.

  • Does the goal or intent of the purpose of this inquiry align with our Foundation's Mission?*
  • Our Mission is to "promote the arts, education, and initiatives that seek to better our world utilizing nature and the sciences." If your organization's project or program does not help to fulfill our Foundation's mission or the mission and intent of the program for which you are requesting funding, please do not submit a LOI.

  • Does your organization serve residents in the United States only?*
  • Please refer to the information on our website to understand the initiatives we fund and the geographic areas we serve. If your organization supports international organizations or their programs or projects, we suggest not submitting a Letter of Inquiry. Please refer to information regarding Expenditure Responsibility for grants supporting initiatives outside of the United States.

  • Is your request for general operating, project, or program support rather than special events (e.g., dinner tables, galas), endowments, or an individual?*
  • Our Foundation does not grant to individuals, political organizations, lobbyist groups, fraternal, foreign, and/or civic organizations, or other private trusts or foundations. We also do not make grants to cover the costs of special events, galas, or fundraisers. We do make endowment grants; however, they are on a case-by-case basis for well-established grantees with a long history with us.

  • You understand that program applications (i.e., P/Arts, New ERA, Eager, etc.) DO NOT first require a LOI. Please visit the program pages to learn more and to submit the appropriate grant application. Also, do not submit a Letter of Inquiry for a program that would fit within and/or be better served by a program application.*
  • Filling out this quiz certifies that this organization complies with all applicable federal, state, and local equal opportunity laws. Our Foundation promotes equal opportunity for all and does not consider gender, race, ethnicity, disability, religion, or sexual orientation as a basis for issuing grants. These policies apply to all terms and conditions of any grant, program, or other foundation endeavor. When assessing grant applications, we focus on the application's potential to make a difference in as many lives as possible and that the grant amount is appropriate for the program size and type.*
  • Your Organization is not eligible to submit a Letter of Inquiry to our Foundation.

  • CONGRATULATIONS!

Your answers indicate that a Letter of Inquiry is the proper next step for your organization.

Once you submit this quiz, you will be redirected to our Foundation's Letter of Inquiry form.

If you are intending to submit any of our internal program applications (P/Arts, New Era, etc.), please do not submit this form or a Letter of Inquiry. Please review the information on our Foundation's website and program pages.

If your request falls under one of our program initiatives and you are requesting $25,000 or less, it will likely be awarded under one of these programs, which does not require a LOI submission first. Please double-check that you should not submit a program application, as the timeline from submission of a LOI to submission of a grant application to receiving the grant award is typically at least 16-20 weeks. In contrast, program applications are typically awarded in approximately 8 weeks.

Please note that we do not typically award large or multi-year grants to first-time grantees. Also, our Foundation's current policy is not to name programs, projects, buildings, etc., after us unless we request them. Please do not name projects or programs after us in the Letter of Inquiry or Grant Application. Thank you.
