  • Become a UMOJA MN Camp Teacher!

    Thank you for your interest in teaching with UMOJA MN! Our camp teacher program is open to Adults 18+ who are looking to help out and make a difference in the community. Once you submit a volunteer application, your application will be reviewed and we will reach out for a background check. 

    This winter's camp theme is “Strong Minds, Strong Bodies, Strong Futures!” taking place from March 28-30 at the Hyatt Regency Bloomington. This camp will focus on Black healthcare, wellness, mental health, and future careers in healthcare.

    About UMOJA MN Black Heritage Camp

    UMOJA MN offers empowerment programs for transracial families, fostering positive Black identity and facilitating open discussions on race. Our comprehensive camp weekend experiences feature tailored programming for children and adults, including cultural celebrations and practical guidance on skin and hair care.

    UMOJA MN is a valuable resource for Black youth who have been adopted, fostered, or are in kinship care, as well as their families in Minnesota.

    We are looking for enthusiastic teachers to share their skills and knowledge in their preferred areas of camp. Please choose tasks or classrooms you are most interested in!

    Below are some of the activities we may ask our teachers to participate in. The activities are subject to change and may be available during other UMOJA MN progamming. Alll teaching materials will be provided to the teacher. 

     

    Classroom Support:
    Camp will consist of classrooms filled with activities for our youth between the ages of 0-18. These classrooms will be separated by appropriate age groups. We ask that our teachers choose an age range they feel most CONFIDENT with in supporting the campers to assure youth are safe, focus, and have a fantastic time!
