Helping Outside Animals is based in Naugatuck, CT and serves nearby communities. Shelters are made by volunteers and provided for $10. Insulated shelters containing straw are in limited supply, so we cannot guarantee if or when we can provide shelters. Shelters may optionally be returned to Helping Outside Animals if no longer needed so they can serve other cats. You're welcome to donate or shop from our Amazon Wishlist so we can continue making shelters. Thank you for caring for your community cats!
Helping Outside Animals (HOA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (tax ID# 41-3516812), operates as a community-driven rescue dedicated to assisting vulnerable and at-risk animals in Connecticut. HOA focuses on advocacy, fostering, and coordinating rescue efforts, while supporting spay/neuter initiatives and connecting animals with safe placements and long-term homes.

Are you able to pick up your straw/shelter(s) from a volunteer in Naugatuck, CT? This is especially helpful if you live further than 15 minutes from Naugatuck as we don't always have volunteers available to travel further than that but we will absolutely do our best. (NOTE: for shelter building supplies, we only offer drop off.)

Acknowledgment: I acknowledge that shelters should ONLY contain STRAW. Fabric shelters and materials like blankets, towels, and hay can kill an animal because they absorb moisture and take away from the animal's body heat. I agree to ONLY use straw in shelters and to replenish straw as needed. I agree to keep food away from shelters to not attract predators. I give HOA permission to contact me to coordinate pick-up/drop-off.
There is a $10 fee per shelter. Shelters cost us $20 each to make, not including gas for delivery. Once notified that your shelter is ready, you will receive a payment link to pay in advance, or you may choose to pay at the time of pickup or delivery. We are happy to accept donations from our Amazon Wish List in lieu of payment — every contribution helps us continue this work!
