    Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Wilson Alumnae Chapter offers an educational scholarship to senior young ladies from Public High schools including charter and early colleges each year. The Ruth J. Brown Scholarship is in honor of our charter member of the Wilson Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. who was a former public school teacher. The amount of the scholarship is $2000. The awards are granted based on the following criteria:

    1. High School GPA 2.75 through seven semesters on the transcript (attach a copy of your transcript to the application) 2. SAT/ACT Score (optional) 3. Two (2) letters of recommendation 4. Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Attendance 5. Essay-250 words ( Why do you deserve this scholarship?) 6. Virtual Interview

    1. Please type or print legibly (using black ink) when supplying requested information. 2. The required 250-word essay must be typed and submitted with the application. 3. Answer all questions to the best of your knowledge. 4. Submit an electronic copy of your high school transcript with your application. 5. Submit your SAT and/or ACT score 6. Have one teacher recommendation from your high school teacher and one person from the community to write a letter or recommendation ( describing character and leadership) Two letters must be sent to:wilsonalumnaescholarships@gmail.com 7. Once your application is received you will be notified of a time and date for a Zoom video conference interview.

  • Considerations for awarding this scholarship will be: Attending an HBCU, Merit (including GPA, SAT/ACT score(s), Essay and Interview) Prepare a well-organized 250 word essay discussing why you should be considered for this scholarship. (Grammar, sentence structure, spelling, punctuation, word choice will be important) You are to type your essay and submit with your application to wilsonalumnaescholarships@gmail.com
