NAGC 2025 Opportunity & Access Symposium presenters will be expected to include practical ideas, resources, and takeaways for attendees. Learn more about the NAGC Equity Symposium and the schedule at https://nagc.org/equitysymposium25.
Note that all breakout sessions will be presented virtually and recorded for attendees unable to attend scheduled sessions. Presenters must agree to allow NAGC to provide your recorded session to attendees via a protected virtual learning platform for post-conference viewing.
The 2025 Opportunity & Access Symposium Planning Group has provided these topics of interest:
- Useful, meaningful, and relevant strategies for culturally responsive classrooms and services
- Serving multicultural students in gifted education
- Collaborating and engaging with families
- Advocating for students and services in the face of current political climates
- Retention of students from underrepresented groups
- Practical, real-world examples of identification practices that have increased access to and opportunities for advanced learner services
- Cultural and lingual considerations for gifted identification and services
- Role of campus and district leaders in creating or improving access to gifted education services
- Censorship and topic and book bans (e.g., African American history, books, etc.)
- Recruiting and retaining Black, Brown, and Indigenous educators
- Intersectionality and diversity within communities
- Helping students create change, break down barriers, and grow as leaders and advocates
Because the number of sessions is limited, presenters may submit no more than 1 proposal as lead presenter and 1 proposal as a copresenter. Only two presenters may be included on each breakout session.
Proposal Timeline:
- February 21: Call for Proposals Opens
- March 14: Call for Proposals Closes
- March 28: Presenters Notified of Acceptance
- April 11: Presenters Notified of Schedule
- May 29: Event Date
