  • Volunteer Agreement & Community Care Commitment

    Our Community & Purpose
  • Our organization is rooted in the belief that community thrives when we care for one another. We exist to build community for community and to celebrate queer joy within the LGBTQ+ community. We welcome volunteers of all identities and backgrounds who share our commitment to kindness, respect, and inclusion.

Volunteering with us means helping create a space where everyone feels safe, valued, and seen. This agreement outlines our shared expectations so that we can care for one another and the community we serve.

  • 1. Our Shared Values

  • As a volunteer, I agree to uphold the following values:

    • Kindness & Respect: I will treat every person with dignity and care, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, race, ethnicity, religion, ability, age, or background.
    • Inclusivity: I understand this is an inclusive, affirming space. Discrimination, harassment, or exclusion of any kind is not acceptable.
    • Queer Joy & Community Care: I will help foster an environment that supports joy, connection, and mutual care within the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.
    • Safety & Trust: I will contribute to a physically and emotionally safe space for volunteers, participants, and staff.
  • 2. Expectations of Volunteers

  • As a volunteer, I agree to:

    • Communicate openly, respectfully, and constructively.
    • Honor others’ boundaries, identities, and lived experiences.
    • Follow guidance from volunteer coordinators and organizational leadership.
    • Act in a way that reflects the values and mission of the organization.
    • Seek support from coordinators when concerns or conflicts arise.
  • 3. Zero Tolerance for Harm

  • As a volunteer, I agree to:

To protect our community, the following behaviors are not tolerated and may result in immediate removal from volunteer activities:

    • Violence or threats of violence (physical, verbal, or emotional)
    • Harassment, bullying, intimidation, or hate speech
    • Discriminatory language or behavior
    • Disrespectful behavior toward others, including dismissive, hostile, or demeaning actions
    • Sexual harassment or unwanted attention
    • Disregard for consent or personal boundaries
  • 4. Accountability & Community Care

  • We believe in accountability as an act of care. I understand that violations of this agreement may result in:

    • A verbal or written warning
    • Temporary suspension from volunteer activities
    • Permanent removal from volunteer opportunities

The organization may take any action necessary to protect the safety and well-being of the community.

  • 5. Commitment to a Safe & Welcoming Space

  • I acknowledge that this organization strives to be a safe, affirming, and welcoming space. By volunteering, I commit to helping create an environment where all people—especially those from marginalized communities—feel respected, supported, and protected.

  • Volunteer Hold Harmless & Release of Liability Agreement

  • 1. Voluntary Participation
I acknowledge that I am voluntarily participating as a volunteer with SLC Pride, a Queer nonprofit organization based in the State of Utah. I understand that volunteer activities may include, but are not limited to, event support, community outreach, set-up and tear-down, administrative tasks, and other activities in support of the organization’s mission.

    2. Assumption of Risk
I understand that participation in volunteer activities may involve inherent risks, including but not limited to physical injury, emotional distress, illness, property damage, or other loss. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable, even if arising from the negligence of SLC Pride, its board members, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or other volunteers, to the fullest extent permitted by Utah law.

    3. Hold Harmless, Release, and Indemnification
I agree to release, hold harmless, and indemnify SLC Pride, including its directors, officers, employees, agents, volunteers, and affiliated partners, from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising out of or related to my participation as a volunteer, except to the extent caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct, as determined under Utah law.

    4. Medical Treatment
I authorize SLC Pride to obtain emergency medical treatment for me if deemed necessary during my volunteer service. I understand that I am solely responsible for any medical costs or related expenses incurred as a result of such treatment.

    5. No Compensation or Employment Relationship
