Music Kids at Butterscotch Studios

Each Music Kids class engages children in a myriad of different musical activities through the use of the body, percussion instruments, puppets, drums, rhythm sticks, shaky eggs, parachutes, and movement. Music Kids classes teach basic concepts of music and song: pattern recognition, rhythm and keeping a beat, volume dynamics and vocal control, tempo, pitch, melody, rhyme, and structure. Music Kids is based on the Orff Schulwerk method of musical education. This approach focuses on improvisation, use of body percussion and vocal expression. Through song and movement, children begin to learn how to match pitch, experience a steady beat and sing together. Using drums and assorted percussion instruments, children develop the ability to recognize and play rhythmic patterns. An enrolled parent/guardian must be present and attentive at all times. Thanks for enrolling in Music Kids at Butterscotch Studios. An enrolled parent or guardian must be present and available at all times. This is a participatory experience, and guardians are encouraged and expected to interact with their child for the the duration of the class time and the 6 week enrollment program.

Refunds/Cancellations/Weather

Dates are set, and non-transferrable. You may withdraw at any time, however there will be no refunds issued for cancellation, absence or weather closures. Music Kids follows the BVSD/St. Vrain Public School weather cancellations, and will notify parents and guardians of class cancellation as soon as possible, up to the morning of needed cancellation. There are no guaranteed make up days if the center is closed or for severe weather, however, we will attempt to find a date when possible.

All Hummingbird classes are held Wednesdays from 9-9:20 am

All Puffin classes are held Wednesdays from 9:30-10 am

Important Notes

An enrolled guardian must be present at all times. This should be a fun experience that you share with your child!

There are no refunds for student absences, inclement weather or school closures.

Please ensure you have the most up to date email for your account, as communication will be primarily through email.

Carly is an experienced musician with a BA in Music from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She has been teaching music at all levels for the past 9 years and absolutely loves sharing the expressive art with the world. A classically trained vocalist, she also plays and teaches piano, guitar, ukulele, and mandolin. Carly is thrilled to be bringing Music Kids to preschools and centers around the Front Range. Music is present in so many facets of life. An early introduction in an accessible and engaging atmosphere is a priceless experience. Carly loves working with children and strives to bring fun and joy to every class, and to instill a lifelong love and enjoyment of music.
