We are accepting new short plays to perform at our scratch night at Cottiers, Glasgow, on 25 March 2025.
Submission guidelines:
- No more than 5 actors required to perform
- Last between 10-15 minutes when performed (please double check this as over-long scripts will be rejected)
- Should be suitable to perform in a traverse format (audience on both sides)
- Should not have previously been performed in public
- Basic tech and design elements (but if you have props, costumes or stuff you can bring - let us know!)
- Please DO NOT include your name or any identifiable information about you on the script - we want to read them anonymously
- Musicals are welcome
- We can only accept one script per person

What happens after I submit?
After the submission deadline, our panel of readers (including playwrights and directors) read through the submitted scripts anonymously and make individual shortlists of scripts they think should be performed. The panel then meet to hash out their final decision and writers are informed if they were successful or unsuccessful.
The successful writers will be paired with directors who will help cast and rehearse their plays. Rehearsals will take place w/b 17 March, writers are invited to attend. The plays will be performed in front of an audience on 25 March.
Roughly Staged is a voluntary opportunity to support new writing and performance, and we are a not-for-profit group. We are committed to making this process as fair and unbiased as possible. For this event, we will give priority to writers with a personal connection to the Partick and Thornwood areas of Glasgow, as we are supported by the Partick and Thornwood Ideas Fund, but we encourage anyone who can make it along on the night to submit.
