    • Every 12-hour shift employee is entitled to 2 unpaid 30-minute breaks (often
      combined into 1 hour-long break).
    • Eight-hour and ten-hour shift employees are entitled to one unpaid 30-minute break per shift
    • If you do not take your two 30-minute breaks, you are entitled to be paid for that time.
    • Let your manager know if you did not take your break or if you only took a partial break so they can document it in Kronos and pay you appropriately.
    • Do not work off the clock. If you are still documenting or performing patient care, DO NOT clock out.

  • ARTICLE X - HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME

    The standard work week shall consist of forty (40) hours. Employees who are assigned to work eight and one half (8 1/2) or ten and one half (10 1/2) shall be entitled to one (1) unpaid meal break of one half (1/2) hour which will be part of each shift. Every effort will be made to provide two fifteen (15) minute paid rest periods within each scheduled shift. The unpaid meal break may be combined with the fifteen (15) minute paid breaks with prior supervisory approval, which shall not be unreasonably withheld. Employees who are assigned to work twelve and one half (12 1/2) hour shifts shall be entitled to two (2) unpaid meal breaks of one half (1/2) hour which will be part of each shift. Every effort will be made to provide three fifteen (15) minute paid rest periods within each scheduled shift. The unpaid meal breaks may be combined with the fifteen (15) minute paid breaks with prior supervisory approval, which shall not be unreasonably withheld. No individual working twelve and one half (12 1/2) hour shifts will normally be scheduled for more than three (3) consecutive days on duty or more than seven (7) days on duty within a period of fourteen (14) consecutive days.
