• 2025 Tournament Grant

  • The purpose of the Tournament Grant is to provide financial assistance to junior golfers from First Tee – Greater Washington, DC who have the playing ability to compete in junior golf competitions at the regional and/or national level but whose participation is limited by financial constraints. The program will reimburse players up to $500 for expenses incurred while participating in tournaments.

    To be eligible the applicant must:

    • Be between the ages of 10-18 when competing in the junior golf competition in which they will seek reimbursement through the First Tee – Greater Washington, DC Tournament Grant
    • Be an active participant with First Tee – Greater Washington, DC in 2025 and have participated in at least ONE Session in the previous calendar year. 
    • Complete the entire application, including the narrative portion, explaining why he or she should receive this grant.
    • Be able to provide expense receipts for the expenses that they would like to be reimbursed for.
    • Complete the application in its entirety on or before the deadline

    All candidates who meet the above requirements are eligible to apply.  RGrant recipients will be selected and notified by First Tee - Greater Washington, DC. 

    Important Information:

    • Grant recipients will be selected by the First Tee – Greater Washington, DC.
    • Receipts for expenses must be provided to receive reimbursement
    • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
    • Past performance in golf competitions and financial need will be important criteria in evaluating applications.
    • Following the USGA’s Rules of Amateur Status, grant funds are intended to cover expenses associated with competing in an event limited exclusively to junior golfers. Expenses may include transportation and travel costs, accommodations and lodging, entry fees, caddie fees, cart fees, and practice round fees. Grant recipients will receive reimbursement for such expenses after proper documentation (such as receipts) has been submitted to and approved by the First Tee – Greater Washington, DC.
    • Grants may only be used for events that are limited exclusively to junior golfers and are generally accepted and recognized as prominent regional or national events.
    • Expenses incurred by grantees for reimbursement from grant funds may be submitted for reimbursement at the grantee’s discretion.
    • The FTGWDC reserves the right to withhold funding for a grant recipient in certain circumstances, such as unbecoming conduct or withdrawal from an event without a valid reason.

    Examples of expenses covered by the First Tee – Greater Washington, DC Tournament Grant:

    • Costs incurred when traveling to and from an event. This may include gas, airfare (for junior golfer only), airport transportation, rental cars and cabs
    • Hotel costs incurred while attending an event (junior golfer only, unless sharing room with parent or guardian)
    • Tournament entry fees
    • Cart or caddie fees
    • Practice round fees

    Examples of expenses NOT covered by the First Tee – Greater Washington, DC Tournament Grant:

    • Airfare for parent or guardian
    • Food and beverage costs
    • Golf equipment
    • First Tee Metro Tour Tournaments
