As we expand our archives and collections, capturing and preserving our stories—told by us, for us, and future generations—is vital to ensure our history remains alive and accessible to all who want to learn about us.
When: This project will begin in Winter 2025. During the initial phase, oral histories will be conducted in person. If you live out of town, virtual meetings will be arranged in the next phase.
What: We are looking for individuals who, along with their parents or grandparents, migrated to Lincoln Park, Humboldt Park, Logan Square or other Chicago neighborhoods between the 1940s and 1990s.
Why: Puerto Rican migration stories have often been omitted from mainstream narratives especially in the Midwest. By sharing your family’s story, you help ensure these essential histories are preserved and celebrated for generations to come.
