Date: 28 February 2025 (On Site Participation)
Time: 7.30 PM to 9.00 PM SGT
According to the Tibetan lunar calendar, this year is the Year 2152 of the Water Hare. Losar (New Year) is a Tibetan festival that is observed in Tibet and Tibetan Buddhists all over the world. This year our Losar Celebration will take place on February 28 2025. Tibetan years are made up of 12 or 13 lunar months. Every two or three years, a thirteenth month is added, making a Tibetan year equivalent to a solar year.
Losar marks how Lord Shakyamuni Buddha, usually reluctant to use miraculous powers, displayed miracles in 15 consecutive days to subdue six tirthikas, or non-Buddhist teachers, who lacked faith in him, and to inspire more faith in individuals to practice the Dharma, bringing them to the path of enlightenment.
It culminates on the full moon, the fifteenth day also known as Chotrul Duchen, "Great Day of Miraculous Manifestations", which falls on 14th March 2025.
This is a precious time to perform virtuous dharma actions. We should use this precious opportunity to accumulate positive merit to free ourselves and other sentient beings from this cyclic existence.
In this festival the following auspicious activities will be included:
- Khatag offering to His Holinesses & H.E. Garchen Rinpoche
