Hey mob, at the end of 2024 I received prize money from National indigenous Fashion Awards. I’m extremely grateful to accept the award and acknowledge deadly mob I stand beside. It’s the third time I’ve received an award from NIFA which blows my mind with heartfelt appreciations to all involved! In the spirit of my upbringing, I would like to redistribute the prize money. I know how much of a difference financial support can make as a low income single mother to a 5 year old who both suffer from chronic health with very little external support. Opportunities through our work in fashion and art is vital for us to live and work “irregular” hours to accommodate our additional health and wellbeing needs. Given the fashion industry is so expensive and unaccessible to a lot of mob, I would like to redistribute the $5000 with the hopes of helping mob out there who need a hand. Like mob have been saying for decades - there isn't a lack of talent in our communities, it’s a lack of resources and support. Mob are the future, we need autonomy and support without red tape that a lot of colonial opportunities often come with - which is why I’ll always support where I can.
